Officials say Blan pointed what he thought was an unloaded handgun at his 8-year-old sister and pulled the trigger, striking her in the head.

The news release states the siblings attempted to provide medical aid before calling 911.

Sure hope she survives. Where did he get the gun?

IMO: you don't get to call playing with a gun, pointing it at someone, pulling the trigger, an "accident."

She was 8 and would have been terrified of what he was doing. Even if he thought it wasn't loaded, which everyone knows you can't assume, he wanted to terrify her, which is a crime. Since he actually shot her, it becomes a violent crime.

Poor child, poor parents.

That was my first thought after reading tlcyas post. Accidental shooting my bum! You don't lift a gun to someone's head and fire, oh oopsie it was loaded, it's not a bloody watergun.

What was a 17yo doing lifting a gun to his sister anyway?
