"Santa Fe Co. detectives say [Javier S] Chavez admitted that after the infant began to whine and cry, he tried to bottle-feed the infant with increasing force when the child would not eat.

He allegedly told detectives he then shook the infant, and when the infant continued to cry, he allegedly put his hand over the infant's mouth and nose." :maddening:

I have an awful feeling that this happened not far from my house, as there are a lot of low income apartments here. But since this monster is underage I can't find anything more on him.

"The father,17-year-old Javier Chavez, told deputies the baby wouldn’t stop crying as he was trying to force-feed him a bottle. The teen says he had taken the baby’s 16-year-old mom to school and was overwhelmed with his son’s crying.

The baby is still in the hospital in critical condition. He’s receiving advanced medical treatment in Albuquerque for brain injuries.

Doctors say the baby was having seizures. Right now, the charges Chavez is facing could put him in jail for six years. That changes to life if the baby doesn’t survive."

They mention that a CT scan did indicate signs of Shaken Baby syndrome.
And theres roughly an 80 percent chance that child isnt "fine"

It is estimated that 1,000-3,000 children in the United States suffer from SBS each year. One fourth of victims of SBS die, and 80 percent of survivors suffer from permanent damage.
