Snapchat content - pictures, videos, messages - can be recovered if Snapchat allows it to be recover. I mean, we as users, can't really recover it. UNLESS you save the messages, you can also save to the archive the pictures and the videos you take, even if you don't send them. I have stuff there from 2016 that I save to the archive. You are the only person who can see your own archive. But, when it comes to recovering content that people sent you, it's a bit harder. The only way to do it is to just screenshot whatever people send you, but the person will be notified that you took a screenshot. But then, it goes back to my first point: I find it really hard to believe that Snapchat doesn't keep that data anywhere and just "deletes" everything. They can recover stuff if they want to. I'm glad they didn't say no to LE just to keep saying "look we don't save your data", because it's pretty clear they do.

in some social media groups a certin few ppl kept insisting it could not be recovered. and snapchat was less than cooperative. it took a lot of LE prodding to obtain it.

That's very naive of people to really believe that.

happy birthday. more charges for these losers out of vegas. NM has not charged them with the murders yet because of some restrictive new ways of charging. they have very little time to get things together so they are waiting until they have everything apparently.

New Mexico murder suspect will not be extradited to Nevada

Aug 1, 2019

"ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A murder suspect locked up in New Mexico will stay in New Mexico for now, despite being wanted in Nevada.

Stephen Goldman is behind bars at MDC on armed robbery charges. Police have also identified him as a suspect in the murders of 15-year-old Collin Romero and 14-year-old Ahmed Lateef, although he has not yet been charged in those crimes.

Earlier this week, it looked like Goldman might be sent back to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he’s wanted for a string of drug store robberies. On Thursday, however, the Las Vegas Police Department said it will not seek to have him extradited since the murder allegations are more serious."

Suspect in teens’ murders takes plea deal in separate case

Sep 7, 2019
"ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A suspect in the murder of two New Mexico teens has taken a plea deal in a different case.

Stephen Goldman pleaded guilty to armed robbery, shooting from a car, and other charges stemming from two separate incidents last year. In exchange, the 20-year-old will serve no more than eight years.

Goldman is also at the center of a murder investigation for the deaths of 14-year-old Ahmed Lateef and 15-year-old Collin Romero. They were beaten and killed before being dumped on the mesa near Rio Rancho last fall.

Goldman has not been charged in the murders, but the DA’s office has named him as a suspect. Another suspect in the murder, Jimmie Atkins, is also facing charges for the armed robbery Goldman admitted to."

apparently Nevada doesn't mess around and have a hold on him. he will face the armed robbery charges there. still holding out him being charged for the boys.

absolutely. No one deserves any of this. May there be justice for these kids and their families and those who truly loved and cared about them.

Wow - this is horrible. I wonder if they shot the video on their phone and then used snapchat to send the video rather than a live snapchat video? I'm curious about the recovery of the video if it was a live snapchat. How terrible for these families - JMO
It is horrible, but it could be beneficial to solving the case of the murders of the teenagers.

The criminal charges in this case can be used as leverage and are centered on people who might have information regarding the murders of the teenagers. I have a feeling that neither these people, nor the previous people identified as persons of interest have any real loyalty to each other via family ties.

In addition, the totality of people under investigation appear to be of varying ethnicities: anglo, black, and also appear to include both multi generational (in many cases, multi century) New Mexico Hispanics as well as recent Hispanic immigrants. Thus, less chance of any long term cultural or social ties amongst the group.

Hopefully, the lack of family, cultural or social ties will eventually lead to somebody who has real information and, motivated by the need to reach a special plea bargain agreement, giving good information to the police.

Here is the fb of the newest named suspect.
Fabian Almentero
More good news. Another person of interest who apparently has no family connections- and thus very little chance of loyalty to the other persons of interest. Somebody is going to talk.

they have the snaps now. i dnt know what the hold up is. the talk is there are some more strict timelines in major cases so they want everything laid out before charging.

I think that is a good possibility.

The willingness to proceed slowly may also be based on the fact that the ring leader and I believe another principal suspect are in custody and "not going anywhere". Thus, less of a need to rush.

Hopefully, the police are using the snap chat evidence to build a case not only against the ring leader, but against everybody who was in anyway involved in any capacity.

Don’t they all have other ongoing criminal cases against them? That’s probably why this case is developing a bit slower, I believe.
