Some Yellowstone campers weren't concerned about the search, including four men from Pittsburgh who were taking a vacation. Their families called them with the news that the inmates could be in the area.

"We're just driving around, stopping and getting out of the car," Kevin Tonini said. "The odds of them being there aren't too good. It's a big park."

What? speechless! they could be anywhere....

APNewsBreak: Captured inmate sang with Wyo. choir

PHOENIX – Federal agents on Monday captured one of two inmates who escaped from an Arizona prison as he walked, armed with a handgun and a hitchhiking sign, in Wyoming, and were still hunting for the other fugitive and a suspected accomplice.

Convicted killer Tracy Province told authorities he was relieved that the manhunt was over for him when he was arrested around 6:20 a.m. in Meeteetse, Wyo., about 60 miles outside of Yellowstone National Park, said David Gonzales, the U.S. Marshal for Arizona.

The other inmate, John McCluskey, as well as suspected accomplice Casslyn Welch, were still on the lam.

"They consider themselves as Bonnie and Clyde," Gonzales said. "This is very, very serious business."

Gonzales said agents were working on leads in Wyoming. He said they believed that McCluskey and Welch were no longer in tourist-packed Yellowstone, where more than 100 armed park rangers were patrolling amid an estimated 30,000 campers and tourists.

Good news. Can hardly wait for them to get the other two.

Sad news - in the Albuquerque Journal this morning they said that one of the nice rv people's dogs (3 were found by investigators at the scene) had run off when investigators arrived and is still missing. The other 2 are back with the daughter. Worse, no one is actively looking for the dog. I'm volunteering but they don't seem to want help. :banghead: Just ranchers in the area keeping their eyes out. Very rural area with I-40 going thru it. I'm worried the dog will die from starvation or will get hit on I-40. The area has had a lot of rain, so hopefully the dog is finding water.

MHO -- I have to say how very kind and Christain the people of Meeteetse, Wyo happen to be. I am sure they were unnerved to discover the history of Provine, but they followed that tired but true WWJD exactly as I would think Jesus would expect. And that includes turnig him in to the authorities.

I'm just going to fess up now.....I would make a terrible witness! There is no way I would have recognized this guy from the picture that they had originally released to the media.

I agree. He looks pretty worn out. I am glad he is in custody.

I don't think this has anything to do with you being a bad witness. I was thinking the exact same thing-he looks nothing like the photo of him that was released and I would never recognize him. I would guess that is an old photo, or he aged really fast while in prison, because he looks a lot older now than in the photo.

I was disappointed too. Sort of hoped the good gun-toting folks of Wyoming would make this whole thing go away for good.

Wow! LE thinks white supremist groups are helping them! I had know idea there was such a network!

Hopefully they will be caught soon. Or maybe they'll run into an angry grizzlie if they are in Glacier Natl Park!:furious:

I just don't want anyone else to lose their life at the hands of these criminals.

They killed the grizzly with the 3 cubs in Glacier who attacked some campers a few weeks ago, but maybe she has a really angry sister....I really have no mercy for people who kill nice retired rvers who travel with their dogs. Grrrr.....

Another sighting..

U.S. marshals said there have been reports that the accomplice, Casslyn Welch, was spotted Monday at a restaurant in St. Mary, Mont., near Glacier National Park, and in southwestern Canada.

Authorities did not confirm any sightings of escapee John McCluskey.

A U.S. Border Patrol helicopter joined the search Tuesday but authorities on both sides of the rambling border acknowledged it was impossible to completely secure it.

A spokesman for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said Mounties are checking out reports of sightings but none has been substantiated.

Marshals said the couple have connections in Montana, but they are also pursuing leads in Indiana and Pennsylvania, where the fugitives also have ties.

They promised more arrests of people accused of helping the pair later in the day.

The Attorney General's Office on Monday charged McCluskey's ex-wife, Diana Joy Glattfelder, with hindering prosecution and conspiracy.

Just ETA my post above that I just realized I had the two mixed up LOL ...this guy who was caught in WY was the one serving the life sentence (my bad) :blushing:

I thought it was McCluskey that was serving life, he certainly looked like the meaner one of the two ..... Well I guess we will still be feeding him for the rest of his life, why I will never understand !
