Charged & indicted (8/30/19) with 7 additional counts of child abuse. Charges (Counts 2 thru 7 & count 12) were dismissed on 10/15/19. Plead not guilty. Held without bond.
Trial was set to begin on 3/30/20 with jury selection, but has changed his plea. Trial was cancelled.

*Thomas Wayne Ferguson (42) (mom’s BF) - Ferguson committed suicide in his jail cell, hanging by sheets, May 23, 2018-case dismissed.

Nuñez pleads guilty in death of Jeremiah Valencia

March 20, 2020
Jordan Anthony Nuñez, who was accused of helping his late father fatally beat and torture 13-year-old Jeremiah Valencia in 2017 at a home in northern Santa Fe County, likely will be sentenced to between 14 and 24 years in prison after pleading guilty Friday. In an agreement with prosecutors, Nuñez, 21, pleaded guilty to recklessly permitting child abuse resulting in death and two counts of tampering with evidence. His sentencing hearing will be held at a later date.

Nuñez showed little emotion Friday in court.

After the hearing, Padgett Macias said the state offered Nuñez a plea in part because his legal team planned to present “an incredibly complicated defense theory” at trial that would have included arguments that Nuñez had been under Ferguson’s control when he participated in abusing Jeremiah.

“We would have had a tough time overcoming the boogeyman and the monster that Ferguson was,” she said.

Ferguson had a history of abusing women and children, according to court documents, and was in violation of his probation on a 2014 domestic violence case at the time investigators say he killed Jeremiah. Ferguson died of an apparent suicide in April 2018 at the Santa Fe County jail.

Peña pleaded guilty in 2018 to one count of child abuse resulting in the death of her son and three counts of conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine as part of a deal with prosecutors that required her to cooperate with the state’s case against Nuñez and serve 12 years in prison.

Kind of a discrepancy on the court dates. I will go with the 6/10 to 6/12 as sentencing instead of what the hearing events says.... I'll check it out before 6/10! :)

Mother of Nambe teen beaten to death gets 12 years in prison

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — The mother of 13-year-old Jeremiah Valencia will serve 12 years for failing to protect her son from ongoing abuse and a deadly beating.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that 38-year-old Tracy Ann Pena was sentenced Monday in Santa Fe for her role in the Nambe boy's killing. She was actually sentenced to 21 years but had nine suspended as part of a plea deal.

Pena did not speak. Her aunt and Valencia's godmother, Celine Miera, asked the judge to sentence Pena to the maximum penalty.

Nunez pleaded guilty in March to reckless permitting of child abuse resulting in death and tampering with evidence. He hasn't been sentenced but faces up to 24 years in prison.

Man pleads guilty in fatal child abuse case in New Mexico

SANTA FE – A man has pleaded guilty in a case involving the fatal beating and torture of 13-year-old Jeremiah Valencia in 2017.

Jordan Nunez, 21, entered his guilty plea in a First Judicial District courtroom in Santa Fe on Friday to reckless permitting child abuse resulting in death and tampering with evidence. He faces up to 24 years in prison.


Am wondering if he GOT 24 years...

Thank you @Niner for keeping this updated.
I had to step away from these kinds of stories for a good long while (there seemed to have been a whole bunch of children and absolutely horrid abuse-leading-to-muder cases, right around the same time.)
I needed to save my own soul for a bit.
Just too incomprehensible.

There are still way too many of these stories, of course.

They unfortunately won't end until Revelation is fulfilled.
Can't come soon enough, imo.
