NM NM - Joel "Deano" Valdez, 36, traveling from a job in Silver City to his home in Coyote, white Chev truck, got gas in Santa Fe, 18 Sep 2025

Was there any ICE activity in Santa Fe then? He has a Hispanic last name and an older model truck - two target items.
Ah good shout- There is an ICE office in Albuquerque that seems to cover Santa Fe…

  • #22
Is there any other places where there is an ICE office within New mexico

  • #23
Also is there any information about the route that he takes to get there and does he take the same route or does he which routes sometimes?

“Along the way, he has his normal stops. He usually stops at the same gas station, the same ATM, so we can track him through Santa Fe. He texted his wife saying he was leaving Silver City,” said Garcia (Cousin.).......

From an earlier post in the thread. If you are unclear on details I do recommend rereading the first few posts in the thread- they have a lot of good details

One thing bugging me about the ICE theory is the strange charges on his card… Also the fact that his car is missing, would he have been escorted within the vehicle…? Would they have taken the vehicle with them? Seems strange but I don’t know ICE procedures. The charges on the card are especially strange to me though.

The credit card and vehicle would be strange if we were to look at the ice possibility when we see that there was a way he was taken there is one question that comes to mind which is about what about the card and the vehicle and who in the ice force would take the vehicle and the card while they are taking a person?

Also it said that ICE they keep the vehicles where they are or they make arrangements with the family or attorney to manage them and it said that these items can be lost if the payments are not made

I decided to take a little look down the street he was last seen on- It has a ton of Allsups locations but only one Wells Fargo that is actually on the street. He never would have had to leave his car if he was using the ATM from what I see on the google street view:

As you can see this location has an outdoor ATM with a drive-thru section dedicated to it. There was no reason for him to leave his car to withdraw cash, as I had initially assumed.

Personally, I find it less likely he disappeared from this location, instead likely something happened further on his path... I will try and look into this...

Based on the reports he began in Silver City MA, drove for around 5 hours (at least) to end up at the street he was on when he stopped for gas and money, that is a fact.

Then from there he had an additional 40 minutes of driving to the Rio Arriba Commons of which we are unsure on where he could have disappeared. I am going to work off of the fastest suggested route on Google Maps, as the only route that made sense spent most of the time on the highway with little variation between routes.

A few casinos on the way which I felt may have been of interest, considering strange charges on his card being present, then a few diners and the like on the way- maybe he stopped to pick up some snacks for when he came home to his kids? Just a theory- obviously, something parents often do after long trips. Only one river he went anywhere near, the Rio Grande river, passing over one of two bridges that I can see, and by then he was barely a few minutes from his destination. I saw no canyons or other dangerous places in my once over, though I may have missed something.

I am going to see what more I can find out... I hope he can return to his kids safely...

There is absolutely CCTV down the road where he stopped, though I am sure the police have combed through that already. Unfortunately I have been unable to find any traffic or weather cams en route to or nearby his destination, though I have only done a preliminary sweep of cameras as I have to head off for now. If anyone has time to find some traffic cam footage from the day I am sure it may help with piecing things together, if not I will see what I can do a bit later~ Ciao for now!

Thank you for the information

Thank you for your excellent efforts @luvnlayercakes !
I now have to catch up on the specific details of this case. (Unfortunately it won't be until tomorrow.)

His route that he took took him about 5 hours to get to Santa Fe and according to Monique they said that he should have arrived in espanola at 6:20 pm

Some pictures of a possible route
Love this, thank you. Was rereading the original posting and wanted to bring up some things about the route for a more accurate path he would have taken.

He started in silver city, on his way to Coyote he stopped twice in Santa Fe for the gas and money.

“The route to Coyote would have taken Deano Valdez through Española and up U.S. 84, through Abiquiú, and then west across N.M. 96” (copied from original post) I plan to reexamine the route with this information in mind, but I am particularly busy today so I’ll be a bit spotty on working on this!!

following up since I got a moment- from what I can tell this doesn’t seem to change the route I initially examined!

Also we can see if there is any camera footage on that date for those roads to see if his car was there
