Kristi Black's mother, Dee Dee Black is not convinced that Villa is responsible....

Kristi Black's mother, Dee Dee Black of Chowchilla, Calif., waited anxiously for word that her grandson was safe. She urged Villa to contact her.

"I was one of the few people he could talk to. I'd like for him to call me now," she said. "I know he's probably very confused. But, I'd like to tell him to bring Justin back to us."

Dee Dee Black said she kept in touch by phone with Villa and her daughter since they married last year. He appeared to be a caring husband and strong father figure to the toddler, she said.

While police haven't implicated anyone in Kristi Black's death, Dee Dee Black said she's not convinced that Villa played a role.

Dee Dee Black said she last spoke to the couple a week before Mother's Day.
Hmmm...wonder what makes her think that?

why would he run though?

I suppose it is possible that they argued and someone else killed her and he thought that he would be implicated since the police were just there?

But innocent people don't usually run, right?

To me it sounds like a crime of passion...and her mother is just in denial.

Or the mother just responded in the manner she thought would be most likely to receive a response.

yea I was thinking this too.

You would say something like "I know you didn't do it, please contact me so I can help you"
just to get your grandchild back alive and safe.

I wonder if Ivan will ever come forward and tell his story?

I just read this. Thank God this little boy wasn't harmed. And may He bless Justin's family and allow mother Kristi to receive justice.

I'm so happy that he turned this boy over to the authorities. This little guy will never know his mommy but I hope that his young age will help to ensure that he doesn't even know the tragedy that he's experienced. Thank God he's safe ... what a little angel.

I think that this is in the wrong forum, (Information & Support), so I started a thread in the Missing/Located discussion forum. Sorry, I got so excited at the good news, I wasn't thinking about the most appropriate place to post it!
