OMG.

I am sharing this from that article @PearlSC posted above and hoping it is not more than 10% because this baby deserves more. Way more than 10%. Please read the whole article if you happen by this thread.

State police learned the woman was staying at a trailer in Alcalde and officers went to the home to perform a welfare check.

Investigators say that’s where officers found the newborn baby dead inside a trash bag.

According to documents obtained by our partners at the Albuquerque Journal, the father told police his child’s mother was a frequent heroin user and had used drugs while pregnant. He also told police he had "heard the woman had injected the newborn baby with heroin to keep the child from going through withdrawal symptoms."

Holy crap! She needs to be locked up for a long, long time.

RIP sweet baby.

An arrest affidavit obtained by the Albuquerque Journal, however, offers a disturbing theory for the child’s death. The father reportedly told police he heard the woman had been injecting the baby with heroin.

The mother, whose name has not been released because she hasn’t been charged, frequently used heroin while pregnant, according to the affidavit. She also repeatedly passed out during an interview with police, the Journal reported.

Ugh, poor baby. It sounds like mom had baby at home so as not to be caught using drugs. And then was injecting baby to keep baby alive and not go through fatal withdrawal. But ultimately she's just a very stupid woman who cared most about not getting caught and continuing to use drugs over any care for her baby.

Edited because I didn't realize the father was the one who reported her to the police. WHY didn't he do anything about her using in pregnancy though? Is there any recourse for that?

I was wondering this exact same thing. Why didn't he do something before this baby died?

Thank you @AzPistonsGirl. I wasn't sure how much detail I could actually post from the article. Still learning the ropes here.
