Oh NCEast I know exactly how you feel. My DH is the same way with people he is so trusting and would probably do the same thing. Mine sometimes just has no common sense.

About retirement mine retired from the USDA a couple of yrs ago and he is a total civil service no SS. We had to down size on the house and bills to be able for him to retire. I haven't been able to work for about 4 yrs due to health reasons. Retirement is rough and getting use to getting payed once a month wasn't easy.

I hope your DH made it home and you didn't have to search for him.

My husband is a Teamster and has been paying into their pension plan since 1969. Their plan is teetering on bankruptcy, he wanted to retire this year and they are not allowing anybody retire unless it is medically related. If he ever can retire, they are estimating he will get about 1/3 of what he should be getting, which was supposed to be about $4500 a month. The reduction won't be enough, plus SS, for us to live on. I am mad, furious over it-- he is taking it all in stride.
Sometimes he can be an idiot--this is an example....he left over an hour ago to take a complete stranger who stopped at our house somewhere to get some form of transportation. It was an AA man, who is probably a god fearing Baptist minister for all I know, but here in eastern NC AA men, unfortunately, commit an overwhelming majority of all crime. So I'm sitting here worried to death because when my husband came in to get his keys he said he was taking him 'right down the road' and he'd be right back. And he's not back yet. If he's not back in another hour I'm going to have to go look for him. He has a heart as big as our yard but his brain isn't.

ETA--He just got home. Thanks for letting me vent!!

Thank goodness he's home safe and sound, NCE. :)

Very sorry to hear about his retirement. :(

He got home just about time I posted my little vent, thank you so much.
I am very sorry you know first hand about the dwindling retirement funds. Or none. With us, what my husband was supposed to have gotten would have been sufficient, along with our SS checks, to live simply but comfortably. I have done all of the world traveling, etc. that I want to do and we never had any big plans for after retirement like a lot of people. I just want a roof over our heads, heat in the winter and a/c in the summer, and some food in the house. Now I'm not even sure we'll get the food--I can easily see how that old saying we've heard for years about the elderly eating cat food because they have to buy their medicines can be very true.

While I have enjoyed the past few days, other than working on July 4th, I am ready to get back into my rut. I have missed all of you and this trial! I'm looking forward to more of Serna's antics in the morning!

Very sorry to hear about his retirement. :(

I have beat him up several times over carrying that man off to who knows where. He won't ever do it again :)
That retirement issue is just not fair. I have not figured out how much money he has paid into his retirement fund--with matching employer funds--since 1969. I don't want to know.

Me too NCEast I have missed everyone and the trial too. I will be happy to get back to it tomorrow. Yes what does Serna have up his sleeve for the week. I wonder what day the defense will rest and then time for a rebuttal, I imagine that McKay will call back Mr. Ortiz the states crime scene analyst... I can not wait for that and then closing all in a short week it is going to go fast. I am so glad your husband is safe... you had my heart flutter for a minute there as I was reading.

All is well CL, thank you for your positive thoughts.
Serna drives us all crazy but I think he and his unorthodox antics are part of the draw. It's like--what's he going to do next (and get away with it). I really am so happy that Mr. Ortiz was able to be in the courtroom last Wed. and, while I hope he enjoyed a safe and nice July 4th, I hope he has spent most of this long holiday weekend going over Mr. McCann's fruity theories and hammering out good arguments against them. And.....I hope Mr. McKay can drive those points home during his closing. I am still feeling that the closing arguments--both Serna's and McKay's--may be what turns the jurors' minds since everything has been so difficult to follow. Along with Serna's smoke screens.
Looking forward to spending time with all of you on here tomorrow!

NC I hope your retirement doesn't get so bad that you have to eat animal food. I know our's took a lot of planning and still some juggling to managing it. I am not even eligible for SS yet and when I do it won't be much. I will just say even with DH having worked for the govenment retirement isn't all that great, money wise.

I am glad your husband made it home safe!

I have missed everyone and it has been a long weekend since we were last watching the trial. I am ready to see the end of this and get Justice for Tera. I so hope McKay can bring this home in the end.

'Morning everyone! I have to run a couple errands this morning, hopefully I'll be back before court starts. Anyone know if it's 9:00 or 9:30?

You have probably already left by now Geevee, I'm sorry, I can't remember. They never start on time, regardless of when they say, so maybe you'll get back before they begin.

Good morning everybody! I will try to transcribe as best I can for those who may not be here at the beginning of the trial this morning.
Thank you Cherry for confirming the start time. They never start on time, Serna is always looking for his paperwork.

TV crew needs to wake up. Did I just see five or six jury members file by in the court? Anybody know does NM courts have a time limit for each closing argument? Like Celeskitty pointed out it's gonna be another white shoe day!

My fingers may or may not work well this morning. But if I type anything incorrectly please straighten me out, I will not be offended.

For someone who uses a cane Serna sure did whip up to the defense's table like a pro runner...
