NM - Tera Chavez, 26, found dead in her Los Lunas home, 22 Oct 2007 - #1

Maybe it's the choppy video but this witness sure seems to have shifty eyes.

I think this witness trusts the defense about as far as he could throw him....

Does anyone know what that star on the lapel of the witnesses coat means? Is it former LE....or something else?

He's really trying to trip Jones up. Seems the prosecution could object to this mix of ill will regarding the def. atty who is combative, in my opinion.

I agree. I wonder if the prosecution is just letting Jones go through this so that the jury can see how ugly the defense atty is being towards the witness and IMHO if the prosecution were object, object, object then it would maybe appear to the jury the prosecution did not feel confident. There was one case I watched in Florida were I believed the defendant was innocent (very rare but did happen) and the prosecution kept calling objection and stopping the defense and from my perspective it looked like they were scared and what do ya know the jury found the defendant not guilty.

I think it's because the defense attorney is trying his dead level best to trip him up....saying things to him that are not in evidence, quoting stuff that's not in the transcript/recording, etc. Pulling rabbits out of the proverbial hat at times. Jones has to be on his game with all of this stupidness, which some may think is brilliant attorney maneuvering, but I don't. I don't like the judge either and my feelings for the prosecution are quickly fading. I have never witnessed a courtroom so lax before.

That's a good point. I do think they could have objected, reasonably, a couple of times in this cross though.

I think it has something to do with law enforcement.
Damn, def. atty just referred to him sarcastically again as a world class cop.

I totally agree. I am just trying to think about strategy the prosecution team might have. I am praying for Tera that they have one.

When trying to figure out if Serna was paid by the state or privately I found out that Serna was born in 1953 so he is either 59 or 60 years old this year. I would have guessed he was much older than that. I wonder if he has been this kind of lawyer his whole practicing life? I think he needs a little refresher course in ethics and morality....just my opinion!

This attorney is making fun of how the witness talks by his long, drawn out, heavily accented reading of the interrogation.

🤬🤬🤬

I agree. I am just floored by this guy.... but I am not surprised that this is who Chavez has representing him, so I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't court appointed.

I would love to know what the jurors are thinking.

I think this witness Jones is holding his own; sounds like he was just doing his job by asking those questions. Serna sounds sarcastic and likes to repeatedly say the F word. I don't even know what point Serna is trying to make!
