Love that judge - 'It'll be a long lunch break but that's the way it goes'. lol

She's a slippery one. I hope the State has better caliber/more truthful future witnesses to call.

Gosh, yesterday a news reporter at the trial Tweeedt and said RS will be the first in a line of paramours to testify or something to that effect. I don't know how long, total, she and/or Jones have been on the stand but it's been pretty much since day one. It's Serna who is dragging things out, breaking the rules, and going in circles with everything....seemingly over and over and over again. If there are 25 witnesses I know I won't be able to deal with this and it will take until the end of the year for a verdict.

He may have a good sense of humor but I don't like the way it seems that Serna has him in his back pocket. Doesn't appear at all like he runs a tight courtroom at all compared to others. Maybe things are just different in NM....

I feel like part of the thing with this witness, and it is just moo, the charges she is facing are still pending awaiting her testimony in this case ie leniency. I also agree with nceast in that she is medicated, perhaps anxiety. She is easily confused and doesn't appear to be clear thinking. She also doesn't strike me as a particularly willing/happy witness.

Right and Jones said there were damp towels in the bathroom during his testimony.

Here is a link to an article in the ABQ Journal that also recaps yesterday very well. You have to answer a question on the site to read the article bc the site is a paid for subscription site.

Thanks for posting this article because - 1. I thought it was Serna that asked for RSlama to review her past interviews, but it was actually the Judge that had her re-read them; her memory was apparently fuzzy. She may have just not understood, like me, what the heck Serna was getting at during his questioning! I haven't understood the point of most of his questions.
And 2. Yesterday, before lunch, when Judge Eichwald chastised both counsels and Jones, to take the trial seriously, he also said something about giggling; I assumed the Judge was referring to Jones because he had a smirky smile directed at one point to Serna. BUT, per the article, the Judge was actually directing the giggling comment to the Prosecution table - ugh! What are they thinking to even crack a smile, let alone giggle during a murder trial they are prosecuting. I'm really disappointed to read that. I didn't hear their opening statement so I can't comment on that, but they sure don't seem to have much of a fighting for justice vibe going on yet either. Hope they soon step up their game. :twocents:

And I thought the judge was addressing the giggle comment to the gallery.

Twenty five more witnesses for Serna to nitpick and try to trip up? Not a pretty thought. I hope the judge starts reprimanding Serna for saying things like he has a couple of questions and then spending the next 4 hours and fifty questions later trying to dissect the witness.

I also got the impression that the two men know each other and may socialize. The thought popped into my head that they acted like they are golfing buddies.

I am back folks. Had coffee with my former boss. He is such a doll, even if he left us LOL

I am back from lunch, had a good time. From the sound of everyone's post it doesn't sound like I missed to much.

I have to agree that I hope the DA has more evidence to provide for this case.

I do not understand why this attorney is allowed to basically testify instead of asking questions of the witness like every other lawyer does.

  • #673
I object to the endless sentence from Serna. Where is the judge letting Serna pull a fillibuster????

  • #674
Attorneys fighting over podium. Sit down Serna.

  • #675
I don't understand what Serna is rambling on about? Now McKay is talking about something. I am completely lost on this trial; what is all this talking about??

  • #676
Did this witness prove a point of evidence?

  • #677
To be honest, I have seen better HS mock trials.

Read from the bottom up, for information on the last witness on the stand (jury was not present).

Judge rules Deibler cannot testify to what Slama told her. Jury to be called in soon. #LeviChavez

Ok, so Serna was making argument why the Deibler woman shouldn't be allowed to testify to what Slama told her about LC saying he heard the shot while he was in the shower.
Whew! A whole lotta' she told me/he told me going on.
