Per linked article, the Las Cruces police department would benefit from review imho?

Omg I’m so sorry! Thank you for reporting it. It wasn’t a great title anyways.
This was murder IMO - totally unjustified.

Police officers should be held to a higher standard. Lowering hiring standards has not improved the caliber of officers.

Police identified the woman who died as Teresa Gomez from Las Cruces.

LCPD also revealed that they arrested a 38-year-old wanted man who was traveling with the woman.
According to police, Jesus Garcia was a passenger in the black 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer that Gomez was driving and had both misdemeanor and felony warrants out for his arrest.

Oh, the passenger in the car -- to whom the officer barely spoke? Beyond stating that he shouldn't be at that apartment complex.

Horrible, ridiculous, unbelievable....

They’re just trying to make excuses now… I cannot believe that officer is on paid leave!

The officer is obviously at fault for shooting the suspect without being in harm’s way.
But the two suspects in the car are not without fault either. The male for repeated trespassing, and the female for driving off during a traffic stop. A poor action, followed by another poor action just destroyed two lives.
Very sad all around
