Winnie Blagden of Sheffield, England was coming up to her 100th birthday and didn't have a single relative to celebrate it with. She's been alone for 30 years, since her husband died.
There was no chance she'd turn 100 without good wishes once news of her forthcoming 'lonely' birthday went viral though, thanks to local BBC radio Sheffield. She received 16,000 cards (and counting) from across the world, as well as gifts, a party, cake and champagne.
Winnie said she was overwhelmed and thrilled to receive a card from the Queen and Brendan Coyle too, an actor in her favorite TV show, Downtown Abbey.
