No Justice in the South

I know I am far from the only one that is victim of Mississippi's poorly conducted justice system, or should I say corrupt. Can someone please explain how I reported elder abuse twice for a lady and not one person went to investigate and now she is dead. She is dead by the hands of her abuser/husband and nothing is being done. The local sheriffs dept is so corrupt that contacting them is a joke. Any direction would be great.
