There’s something deeply peculiar about this case. In 1992, Honolulu Star-Advertiser coverage linked Nola Fujitani’s (Swinton) disappearance to coworker Carl Asaeda, who vanished days before her on June 18, 1992. Speculation arose about a connection. Researching extensively, I noted unusual address records in Ancestry long after—Nola’s in Honolulu and Carl’s in Pearl City and Portland. An Ancestry tree listed Nola's death as May 7, 2024, followed by a legal notice in the Star-Advertiser with a court date of August 1, 2024. Her NamUs case uploaded August 14, 2024? She was declared dead in 1997 but some original research into this case suggests she survived both her disappearance event and legal death. I’ve shared findings with the Star-Advertiser.

I saw legal notices in early 90s filed for the protection of property under her name, and then a filing for refinancing of property in her name in 1997 with filings for presumption of death in 1997/1998 and estate notice to creditors in 2024 (inclusive of the real estate).

I hope she did survive. If you don't mind sharing, what led you to suspect that she did?
