Wasn't sure where to ask this so I'll give it a shot here.

I have a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and have been working at a hospital. However, lately I've been contemplating a shift within LE in some manner. I've always had a passion for it but more in a behind-the-scenes role.

I admire detective work, and love critical thinking, things of that nature. But I believe a detective requires to go out on the field if necessary, and be able to handle a gun, etc. I'm not much of a fighter and prefer a non-combative role; not sure what type of LE jobs emphasize those assets besides a detective?

The mental health field is growing, and that area might be an easier transition for me based on my previous health education/experience. Is there some sort of a criminal profiler position that I can fit into?

If anyone has any advice, experience, etc. they can offer me, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I agree with Laughing - Forensics or Crime Scene Tech are good options... as is Hostage Negotiator (my personal fav and previous career), Dispatcher or Police Academy Instructor. The small municipal department I was with had a number of civilian positions, and many officers cross trained into administrative-type roles. Contact your local PD or SO Recruiting Officer - he/she would likely have a list of possibilities within their department. Best of luck to you :)
