Yes, in this item it translates like that = that is what is written in Norwegian. Although, if the description is "in the direction of Stavanger", one could assume that the ship was "heading to Stavanger".

Yes, probably they mean the ship Beautrophy that left the port on August 24th. The Beautrophy did not stop at Stavanger.

What I mean is.... another ship, leaving on the 2oth or 21st of August. If you read back a few posts, then you'll understand what I mean.
I'll be happy to clarify should you not understand entirely.

This is what the witness says he has seen from his apartment in Rognan harbour:

"I and some friends are looking at the game Bodø / Glimt. Between two games I get up and look from the window and beyond the harbor. Then I see the same person coming on the road and down to the shore with the same bags, says the witness.

- What time is it then?

"About 20 in the evening. I notice that there is some activity on the dock in connection with the loading of fiber cables from the local cable factory here at Rognan," the witness says.

- What are you thinking?

"I thought he would probably work with the local boat builder who often receives trainees," he explains.

Around 21 o'clock he looks again from the window. Then he will see the person in the same area.

"This time he has no luggage with him as he walks towards the shore again," he explains.

My impression is is that he is speaking about seeing the man at the shore and that the shore and the dock are two different locations.

There is no description of the vessel, he only speaks about loading of fiber cables.

He does not connect the man that he saw with the vessel in the dock, he thinks the man would probably work with the local boat builder who often receives trainees.

Since Arjen Kamphuis is 47 and has the build of a middle-aged man, it is difficult to imagine that anyone would consider him a trainee with the local boat builder. IMHO trainees are usually younger, in their twenties.

The local boat builder doesnt really have only young trainees - he would take in practically anyone who is interested in the local boat building. They seems to be mostly middle aged men and many of them are foreigners like himself.

This is very interesting. If you want to leave the rat race behind, you can join the local boat builder in Rognan, Norway. So this man, whether he was AK or someone else, could well be, still be, an apprentice with the local boat builder. Perhaps the witness was right about the man.

What caught my attention is that in his description he does not connect the man with the vessel. He saw the man walking towards the shore, twice. What happened in between remains a question mark.

Not what I expected. You only see part of the road, roughly from between the cormer of the balcony to the trees near the brown building. Does the road bend to the left, where the white car is parked? Or is that the entrance to a house?

The brown building on the right is probably where the boat builder is.

How does that road continue?

No wonder the witness was so vague about the movements of the man near the shore.

"Everyone in the area wonders what happened to Kamphuis", says correspondent Rolien Créton. "People want to help."

Créton is in the area around Bodø, where the 46-year-old Kamphuis was last seen. She spoke to several people there, including a woman who lives on the spot where the kayak of the missing Dutchman was found.

"The fjord is known for its strong current, and is very deep," says resident Anne-May Dahl. "Many things are washed ashore here. It has happened more often that people drowned here and were never found."

The fjord is treacherous, as local residents tell Créton. "People say: it looks nice, but if you lie in it for 10 minutes, you get hypothermia."

A resident saw Kamphuis Monday evening 20 August in Rognan. He would have walked with luggage towards the water. "What happened after that is unclear", says Créton.

The fact that the Norwegian police are looking on the water and land in that area indicates that they are taking seriously the scenario that Kamphuis died in an accident. But the police also have two other theories.

Has he perhaps consciously disappeared? It is striking that Kamphuis told his surroundings that he went on holiday to Spitsbergen, but according to the police he never went there.

Or is he a victim of a crime? Foreign media like The Guardian and The New York Times, for example, emphasize Kamphuis' work for WikiLeaks.

"What doesn't help in the search is that images from security cameras are automatically deleted after a week in Norway," says Créton. "That has to do with privacy laws. There are also few witnesses because the area around Bodø is sparsely populated."

According to the AD, residents of Rognan, a small harbour near the fjord where Kamphuis' belongings were found, suspect that the Dutchman hid on a cargo ship.

On the day of his disappearance he was supposed to have sailed along as a stowaway to Stavanger, a city close to the place where his phone found a signal on August 30th. There the Dutch SIM card of Kamphuis was swapped with his German SIM card.

"The police say they are investigating this scenario", Créton knows. "They got that tip a week ago. According to the shipping company, the ship was heading for the port of Bremen, Germany, and did not stop in the south of Sweden. Also on surveillance images there is nothing to see."

Although over a hundred tips have been received in recent weeks, the only tangible evidence so far are the items that were fished out of the water around the fjord. "A kayak and a paddle", says Créton. "The starting points for this search."

They actually did,searched with dogs.
And probably did it before,without telling the media.
No cargo ship then..(wich was odd btw) and did not match with the facts of all his personal belongings that has been found wich indicates more to a tragic accident...

@Bold; I have never met Arjen, so I only know about him through internet and because of his disappearance. I know enough about him to understand that he is a brilliant person, a genius. According to people who do know him in person, a very kind and nice guy. I have seen some of his presentations on youtube and the way he presents fits that description.

Some time ago, the port of Rotterdam was hacked and remained paralysed for 3(?) days. I read somewhere that it had been Arjen who had solved the problem. I don't have the means to check the validity of this claim, but I believe that if some one could have solved that hack, it would have been Arjen.

Going back to your post, I understand your frustration. You must understand ours - or mine- let me speak for myself.
It's not about ego's or who is right or who is wrong or who is first. It's about the frustration that such a good, intelligent and at the same time modest person like Arjen -a Dutch pride- has disappeared. Not only has he disappeared as a person, but a mountain of knowledge has disappeared with him.

As for Arjens main message that systems we work with daily are designed to facilitate spying by the ... , I can't agree more. And I ask myself why humanity has not learned from history. His statements and speeches are better discussed in technical forums where techno's understand and can contribute .

To go back to Arjens disappearance: it is very worrying and saddening that he has disappeared, whatever the cause (one of the 3 possible causes) may be. It's his disappearance that is being discussed on Websleuths.

(And I can't repeat this enough times: I still hope that Arjen is alive and well.)

I do agree with Zazara about the eyewitness..guess it was already dark by that time as he looked out the window.
Dont know what the weather was around that time but there seems to be a lot of distance in between.

The police have been exceptionally optimistic when they collected video surveillance from Bodø and Rognan.
August 20th > August 27th = Deleted > September 2nd = Officially Missed.

There is 650 meters from the witness's balcony (By the German shipbuilder) to the cargo ship "Beautrophy"

"Beautrophy" arrived on August 18th and I do not know if it was AK's first and only visit to Rognan on August 20th.

It's hard to believe that someone would expose family and friends to such an unpleasant event unless he tries to stop World War III, he may also be hired by NATO on the basis of a concrete security threat
