That is a weird graph the way it connects the dots of each incident. In between the incidents, the number would be 0. A bar graph would be more accurate.

But, yes, we have an ongoing problem. No doubt about that.

The number between isn't zero, though.

Thinking of those injured and killed in this terrible tragedy...and all their loved ones. Also, sending prayers to the survivors...survivor's guilt and PTSD are very real and I hope everyone gets the help they need. I have a feeling the casualty list will grow years into the future as people deal with the experience of "living" through this.

I'm not quite there yet with the Injustice Collector label. It's still early, though.

I think there is going to be something else about his motive - though it will, of course, be cruel and inhumane whatever it is. It will be irrational, whatever it is.

I'm just not seeing the "injustice collector" in him just yet, but perhaps people will start coming forward with some examples of him holding grudges and over-reacting because he felt slighted.

The problem with injustice collectors is that they can be quiet and fly under the radar. Meanwhile their brain is on fire and plotting. Doesn't have to be a justified, they feel slighted and could be by the most benign things. Nothing to us, huge to them.

I saw an interview with a survivor who said when the shooting started Aldean was singing a song she adored and she started jumping up and down so excited. That clutched at my heart so hard. Those poor souls. So happy and celebrating. And to be shot at and the happiness and joy to turn so suddenly to horror. It's heartbreaking.

Just wanted to say thanks for the thoughts and prayers. Our friend is in ICU she was shot in the head and they are unsure if she will pull through.

Thoughts, vibes and prayers for your friend, her family and you xxx

Right. And there are so many quietly seething loners in the world. Most don't end up like this. Extremely hard to predict. And prevent.

The number between isn't zero, though.

The graph shows mass shootings. Each dot is a mass shooting incident.

Yes, people die from shootings in between mass incidents, but the graph is about mass incidents. In between mass killings, the number is 0. IMO, it's not the best way to depict the problem we have.

Or is the graph about something else I'm missing it? (And, honestly, I probably should not have started a discussion about graphics. We have a mass shooting problem in the USA, and that's really the only issue I'm here for - to try in some small way to figure that out.)

This grief and unspeakable sadness is cumulative, too; Paris, Orlando, Manchester, Las Vegas all so happy, dancing, and just having a good time... When will it stop?

So sorry for your friend and their family. This is sad and so unnecesary.

Please please stop with the politics. This tragedy is not a soap box for you to stand on and spout your rhetoric. Let's stick to the facts and do our part to bring justice and answers for the families and survivors. See below from the mod, posted only a few pages back.

admin note:

A terrible incident has happened. A man has taken 50 plus lives and wounded hundreds of Americans. We do not know his motivations. This is a shocking and heartbreaking day for all.

Some posts have been removed.

IF YOU BEGIN TO BICKER IN HERE AND BRING POLITICS (LEFT OR RIGHT) INTO THIS DISCUSSION YOU WILL BE TIMED OUT. ZERO TOLERANCE. THIS IS THE ONE WARNING.

for those who cannot resist the urge to politicize this event the link to the politivent forum is right HERE

Now take five minutes to read/comprehend this and collect yourselves and I will reopen the thread.

I am not sure if this is allowed here but it is for those who would like to be able to do something to help. This has come across my FB page several times, as I have family living in the Vegas area. The needed items can be ordered from Amazon and delivered to the Ronald McDonald House address listed in the information. There is same day delivery available through Amazon, but these items will be needed for quite some time for the families of those injured and receiving treatment.

Hi friends, we need your help. We are devastated about the news of last night's shooting and the overwhelming number of people who have been effected. We are currently working alongside Red Cross to fill any gaps they may have in providing food services and immediate resources. Many have already jumped in to prepare healthy sack lunches that we will be delivering all day to the families at and outside of Sunrise and UMC. This may be some people's only meal of the day. You can help by donating non-perishable single serve food items like bags of pretzels and chips, granola bars, water, etc. You can drop these items off at 2323 Potosi St. Las Vegas, NV 89146. We greatly appreciate your support during this difficult time for our community and our thoughts are with every single family in Las Vegas.

Agreed.
If ISIS has nothing to do with this tragedy-- and they themselves know they didn't -- curious why they'd try to claim some responsibility ?
Jealousy ? Wouldn't surprise me if some twisted minds out there are 'envious'.

A lot of sick people in this world ; and I don't think it's getting any better.

Wish I lived closer to NV ... I would like to donate blood.
58 precious souls cut down, because of one hate-filled individual !

All of those people probably had parents, siblings, other relatives, friends, coworkers ,etc.-- whose lives will never be the same.
Some of the survivors will never be able to go to another music event and will be traumatized for years to come. IMO

" For one, such a claim guarantees relevance for ISIS by keeping it in the news, terrorism expert Bruce Hoffman told Business Insider. There is a long history of terrorists trying to elbow themselves into the limelight and milk some horrible tragedy to claim some credit for themselves," said Hoffman, who serves as Georgetown University's director of security studies.

I believe his brother said he was 57? So, he would have been a toddler in 1960, and 7 years younger than his brother. Age gap could easily be why they are not particularly close as he mentioned.

I don't think the brother is necessarily trying to hide anything but also his family story is becoming world news. I read his defensiveness as in part due to devasting shock, and also because not everyone's father was on the FBI's most wanted list. Depending on who knew, no doubt this impacts the rest of the family in a big way on several fronts.

I feel very sad for the mom in her 90's who just may not recover. The families of mass murderers live with the unspeakable truth and connection for the rest of their lives.

And I belive the fathers arrest and imprisonment would have a more emotionally devastating impact upon the shooter then his younger brother.

The shooter was about 8 or so. A very vulnerable age to try and process a shock like that and be in school etc.

The younger brother did not have to live through it in the same way, as he was so young.
