Marilou liked a post on someone's page 2 hours ago... If I send the page to someone, would they like to send it in to LE?

ETA: This person lives in Dubai. Very, very odd.

Her FB page is gone...

I'm hearing/seeing lots of warnings about bots and trollers sharing patently false disinformation via social media. Cautioning to carefully vet links and sources before repeating anything.

It went down right after I posted that. I did screen shot her post on the other person's page just in case.

My partner wondered if the shooter had lost a lot of money in one of the casinos and lashed out at a random crowd of people he could see.

I had that thought, however the person was apparently prepared with a ton of rounds and the weapon...so it seems planned to me.

Even if she herself deleted stuff or deleted her page, it would still be on FB's servers (I think they say even if you totally delete your account, your stuff is on THEIR servers for up to 90 days afterwards - probably partly for this very reason and partly because they wouldn't constantly be hard deleting stuff, it's not good for server infrastructure) so LE will be in touch with Facebook if LE need it. Screenshots can be faked, so probably wouldn't be used by LE.

Probably planned deliberately for sure, the concert = shooting fish in a barrel. Doesn't seem like a random moment of frustration, seems cold and planned.

Prayers for Vegas and hugs for Kai hunkered down in a hotel room. Stay safe!

A request...when posting MSM links can there be a brief description with it so we get the gist and can decide whether to open it or not. When I’m scrolling fast, I want to just catch the highlights...cuz I’m lazy sometimes. :) Thanks!

(Hey, Yes L, soooo very sorry about that, I usually do, and agree about highlights, choosing links etc), the shooter was active at the time, I was all calm and happy with this adooorable video BCA posted in another thread, and about to crash bc my brain was going to mush and had just posted that and I suddenly got jooolted like with a shot of adrenaline when I saw the news!and 'm running on 2g and hard to type, so very sorry, I wanted y'all to have all the latest stuff as it was coming out, normally I always do include title and snippet , ,had you guys in mind thinking you could have the links and could just quote lol, sorrymy adrenaline just popppped when I saw that, was a way at the time i thought to control having a million windows open in national emergency, and also wanted to get all the main networks linked internally here, my mistake, and I forgot these links update and I screwed everything up possibly chronologically because of this, and was going to delete them then realized if did that, or multiquoted to consolidate the quotes it would mess it up further if anyone quoted from them. Lesson learned, soooo very sorry, I realized my mistake right away and was like you dummy M; I think I went into some kind of weird survivalistic Rainman mode, been a looong few days here. Anyway back to this awful thing happening here!!!)

(Didn't something else happen at a Jason Aldean concert or did I imagine this? Maybe already addressed, catching up.)

Hello Margarita

You may be thinking of the Holly Bobo murder where I think the day before or maybe it was a couple days before her murder I think it was her brother had wanted to go to the Jason Aldean concert and didnt get to go for some reason and so he had a friend sending him phone updates during the concert.

I cant remember if Holly herself had gone to the concert or not but I am pretty sure that one of her brothers friends was there and gave him updates during the concert.

There was discussions about that concert as we were looking for clues into her murder.

MSNBC identifies shooter as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock.

I was just on her FB for a long time---wish I hadn't just closed it cuz now it's gone.

But she was quite the casino fan. Lots of trips to Reno and Las vegas and lots of pictures from Vegas concerts and shows, going back for a few years.

This is so odd. I didn't see any religious or political memes to account for a violent outburst like this.

She was wearing a Santa hat in a Christmas picture, so I don't see any reason she'd want to shoot up a Christian Country Music festival.

I don't understand the motive at all.

Sure, but if he's local (as is being reported) rather than a visitor, he could have lost money last week, last month or whatever and returned when his life finally fell apart, eg his house was repossessed or the bailiffs came calling from his credit card company.

MSNBC reporting LE says he had multiple weapons in the room.

ETA: Also, was "known" to police. No info on how.

  • #178
CBS just reported he lived in a retirement community.

Im curious how he got a fully automatic weapon in that room and all the ammunition.

From listening to the shots from TV news from someone there with cell phone video you can hear how rapid the shots came out of the gun.

I am familiar with the sound of weapons going off from going to a gun range and I can say for sure it was fully automatic weapon. The other interesting thing is the number of rounds before he had to reload was a lot of rounds. So I dont think it was a regular clip.
A regular clip of shells would not allow that many bullets to be fired all at once like we heard. Which means I think he either had a round "Drum magazine" or a string of shells all clipped together in a long string.

The link below shows what a drum magazine looks like.

https://www.xproducts.com/product-category/high-capacity-drum-magazines-223-556-308-9mm/

These mostly hold around 50 shells. But they do make double drum magazines too which double that to 100 rounds. Shown below is a double drum.

https://www.classicfirearms.com/ar15-m16-100rd-dual-drum-mag

The only other way I think he could have done it is with belt ammunition where all the shells are linked together in a long belt. The ammunition would be all linked together and bought that way and just layed off to the side as it got fed into the gun. It would not really be a clip at all but just a long belt of shells. Shown in link below shows 100 rounds pre-linked in a belt.

http://ammunitionstore.com/products/308-7-62x51-ammo-147gr-fmj-ggg-100-rounds-linked-for-m60.html

Those are the only two ways I can think of to be able to fire that many shells all at once. We hear him reload and start again and he would either change the drum magazine out with another fully loaded drum. Or another belt of shells.

He must have had the extra drums or extra belts all ready to go because he was able to fire again quickly after he ran out of shells. He was able to reload quickly which means he had these other drums fully loaded already or had extra belts of ammunition ready to go.

My guess is he used one of these two methods and had them all ready.

I hate waking up to such tragic news! Sending my deepest condolences. It's truly sad, and scary as hell that this has become our reality!
