I read somewhere that she lived in one of his apartments in Reno and that's how she knew him. Maybe she was separated from her husband (or not), but I think that she moved in with SP in Mesquite in 2015. They obviously did some traveling together before that as the photos of him with her family in the Philippines were from 2013. JMO

Why do you think he stopped shooting? Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad he did, but seeing the guns and ammo in the hotel room, he could have fired for a lot longer. CNN said he fired for 9 minutes straight but we know the cops didn’t get there for over an hour. Why do you think he stopped?

Per the most recent press conference security and probably local police were at his door by about 10;20pm and exchanged gun fire (one hotel security person was shot). It doesn’t sound like he continued shooting out the window after this.

SWAT blew the door around 11:20pm. I personally think he shot himself long before SWAT arrived.

Is there a Caesers property that would have given him the same sort of view and access to the crowds at the concert? I assume he chose Mandalay Bay specifically for that reason. Having the room comped or getting points wasn't important to him this time.

No, there would not be. It will just be interesting to know if he has stayed here, scoping out rooms before or if this was a usual place to stay or if he did his research online. He certainly didn't just randomly pick a room. But, to me, I would think if he was trying to get back at Vegas for stealing his money, he would have been more likely to do it from a casino he frequented. I just like to look at the thought processes behind things and was just struck by that little fact.

If you can believe the news, today they said they met in Reno when she was working as high limit hostess. Then, I think, he bought a place for her to stay in.

Has anyone checked the property records of SP's homes to see if she was an owner of record also? Wonder if he had a will?

Yes, I believe this is true (you can see bullet holes in the door in one of the pics) but I don’t believe the security guard was there within 9 minutes. I just find it strange that he stopped after 9 minutes. The first 911 call came in at 10:08.

LE arrive between 10:20 and 10:24
10:24 Room is identified
10:30 - 10:36 LE acts on it's own, does not wait for swat, gunfire is exchanged between LE and SP through door.

LE retreats at that time.........now no activity until SWAT breeches door at 11:20 and finds suspect dead.

The important thing is is that since LE initially approached door and the exchange, there was no additional gunfire out of window.

Now take from that whatever you want, my thoughts is SP was dead either from suicide or shot from LE at 10:30 I think he was dead in that room @ 10:30 until SWAT arrived at 11:20 I think the timeline from earlier had shooting lasting 12 minutes.

Yes. DH and I would like to dive there, but ISIS is too great a threat. They aren't on all the islands, and the people are fighting back.

Vegas shooter may have targeted a different concert in September first

The Daily Beast says a “senior law enforcement source” reports Stephen Paddock may have initially targeted the “Life Is Beautiful” *music festival in Las Vegas the weekend of September 23rd.* Chance the Rapper and Lorde headlined that festival.
The Daily Beast says the source is not “directly involved in the investigation but has been briefed on its progress.”
The source says Paddock rented multiple condos overlooking the Life is Beautiful festival.
“The source suggested that Paddock may have lost his nerve or simply changed his plans and checked into the Mandalay Bay Hotel on September 28,” the Daily Beast reports.

Not sure if I heard this correctly, but I think that hotel security got to his door BEFORE the SWAT team and a security guy was shot. If so, it must have been THRU the door? Because the door was breached later by SWAT. Is this correct??? If so, that is probably when SP stopped shooting out the window. JMO

That is what I have heard. When they knew the room and floor they first had to evacuate everyone off of that floor before SWAT broke the door open.

But we don't have a direct quote from her and no one from LE has officially interviewed her yet.

I get why she deleted her Facebook and it was a smart move, but I kind of wish she hadn't.

Slightly o/t but something that fellow WSers might understand or get a chuckle out of during all of this horribleness. When I was reading the news the morning after this tragedy struck I saw a familiar face staring at me from a related article. I almost fell out of my chair. It was the mugshot of the shooter's father Benjamin Hoskins Paddock.

This was the face that haunted my nightmares as a child. Not because I had any involvement with him or with his crimes but because my best friend and I were true crime obsessed. We repeatedly checked out this little orange book about the FBI's most wanted from our elementary school library and this guy was in it.

In our little seven year old minds, Benjamin Hoskins Paddock was the scariest thing on the face of the earth. We'd spend hours on the sidewalks of our tranquil suburban neighborhood, casing the cars as they went by and hoping to catch a glimpse of him or one of the other creeps in the book so that we could call it in to the FBI.

For over thirty years we have made references to BHP and how someday we might have helped capture him. I remember last year trying to find that mug shot so I could email it to her as a joke and it wasn't easy to find! After I picked my jaw up off of the floor yesterday I immediately sent a message to my friend to tell her about this bizarre blast from the past. Weirdly enough, I now live very close to where BHP was finally arrested.

Anyway, just a silly little story where my adult and childhood worlds strangely collided in the aftermath of a horrible tragedy.

Probably the only place I could ever reply to this post with a "OMG, that is so COOL!" would be WS, lol.

Both these are actual, both have the same 50 minutes of non activity by SP which is why I believe he was dead since 10:30 Chris Cuomo was interviewing the guy that gave the report I mentioned I was amazed by how quickly LE found his room...within 4 minutes of arriving....will look for a video
