I think lots think exploring the realities of mental illness is identical to taking away responsibility from perp

it is not ---- but can be helpful with the why

moo the fact that america is still (getting better) stigmitizing mental illiness is really an indicator of not understanding the ravages of the malady.

It is very real

It is not choice

Can you imagine someone blaming a diabetic whose blood sugar got so low they crashed into a bunch of people killing them being blamed . Or told diabetes is BS.

What about Demented (mental illness) who aggressively come after family members or caretakers is that a blame thing

There seems to be a general beleif system that its all about getting (legal system) getting off and a game

Often that is not case. Batman Holmes was delusional that is mental illness -- he thought he was joker

the guy in planned parenthood was screaming things that made no sense in court that is mental illness

The guy who shot the congresswoman is psychotic that is mental illness

The Cascade mall shooter would pull knives on his parents that is mental illness

Was Jeffrey Dahmer mentally ill? Unless one can buy the notion that there is truth in his core belief that dead bodies in vats of acid are company - well .

Adam Lanza mom was so scared of him she let him stay in his room for months alone that is mental illness

IIRC the fort lauderdale shooter was dced from the armed services as a result of mental concerns

the fort hood shooter was actively psychotic around his peers - fellow psychiatrists

Austin who eats peoples faces was clearly in a problematic state of mind

Cho at Virginia tech was acutely disturbed on that day they system dumped him all over -- ignored clear signs -- for a long time

Mental illness is no different than diabetes, cancer, etc etc. It is a medical disease.

IMO until our nation can grasp that reality -its a medical entity - we shall be mass shot to death moo

Am I saying some try to use mental illness to get a different hotel when convicted - sure

MOO a lot of our society total misunderstanding of mental illness is based on the asylums in the 50's.

Unless someone is walking backwards talking to trees there not suffering with mental illness.

So there is a wide notion that someone who can think be smart plan organize etc etc the instant conclusion is there is no mental illness involved.

That belief system (erroneous) -- that unless someone is acting crazy all the time only in the terms the public thinks what crazy is .

Mental illness , like most medical problems manifest themselves in different ways - no difference

Check out how many brilliant people suffered with bipolar-- and killed themselves.

Being bright, able to think, have money, etc etc does not rule out the realities of suffering with mental illness

Its like ice cream -- all ice cream IS ice cream -- but there are so many varieties of ice cream!

Were learning the hard way --until our society validates mental illness, educates the masses on what it actually is (far more subtle than screaming at sidewalks) we will continue to be shot at.

Look at what the society is now learning as it relates to DV and really violent behavior later . Does that translate to all people who abuse other will be a mass shooter nope - at the same time we find more and more there is a history in a lot of folks who later get increasingly violent

In the 50s there was mental == it equaled totally insane

We know much more about mental illness now.

Most - all flavors- are generally related to neurotransmitters in our brain. It is that simple yet so complicated

Certainly guns come into the pic at some level and shall leave that angle alone !!

No different than insulin and blood sugar identical imo

Excuse imo no

helpful the "why" imo yes

Does anyone blame a diabetic for anything

moo?

You know for sure. However, I know a “light” version of SP.

Married to a non white woman who he does not hit, but degrades constantly. Has money but is cheap to the max. Uses people and degrades them and cheats the govt on taxes. Can afford car insurance but does not buy it.

Is into guns but only has a bb gun because that is the only thing allowed where I live.

Thinks his job that he is retired from was incredibly important. Brags about his money and how much he made all of the time.

Has several properties for income. He does not gamble or drink to excess.

He grew up sort of poor . Hates his mother but does have a relationship. Was abandoned by a father who went on to have another family.

He is obsessed with money. How to get it by cheating, but now just in small ways.

I do not think he is mentally ill. Totally self centered. He goes to church.

There are other things related to women and POC I will leave out.

Does anyone blame diabetic for anything? What in the world does that even mean? If diabetic commits crimes, do we just say, he/she is diabetic so we shouldn't charge them with anything? If a diabetic commits mass murder, is anybody going to use diabetes to justify it?

Security took her away

She was still in the area. She would have to have her information a longer while before, yet she stayed in the area to die. Um, no.

I think the house purchase wasn’t green cash, it was just paid outright with a check and not financed. JMO

Oh, I read that in a news article posted here way back~~the news article said he paid cash.

 • #185
And Valium corresponds to that back in the day Valium helped you calm after using coke

I think him having some money is confusing finding a motive

throws us off - it should not!

yep, curious if he binged to stay up for days to gamble then came down with Valium.

If you pay cash for the house, that just means you don't need a loan, doesn't mean you bring a suitcase full of cash.

Elevated levels of impulsivity and increased risk taking are thought to be core features of both bipolar disorder (BD) and addictive disorders. Given the high rates of comorbid alcohol abuse in BD, alcohol addiction may exacerbate impulsive behavior and risk-taking propensity in BD.

with all due respect, it could be either. No loan, check or suitcase full of cash.

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/...-las-vegas-shooter-had-vanilla-profile-243574
Hotel and casino mogul Steve Wynn said Sunday the gunman in the Las Vegas massacre had a "vanilla profile," but his behavior ahead of the shooting would have raised red flags at his hotels.

In an interview on "Fox News Sunday," Wynn said the behavior of Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock, a frequent visitor to Las Vegas in the years before the shooting that killed 58 people, and his girlfriend was "conservative" during their visits.
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/l...lem-gambler-casino-owner-says/article/2636867
The most odd thing about Paddock, Wynn said, was that he was never known to drink alcohol at all.

http://thehill.com/homenews/sunday-...shooters-behavior-would-have-triggered-alarms
[h=1]Steve Wynn: Las Vegas shooter's behavior 'would have triggered a whole bunch of alarms here'[/h]
"The scenario that we're aware of would have indicated that he didn't let anyone in the room for two or three days, that would have triggered a whole bunch of alarms here," Wynn told Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday."

"And we would have — on behalf of the guests, of course, investigated for safety and it would have been provocative situation. I'm sure that the same is true in other hotels but in this hotel, a 36-hour, a 24-hour, 36-hour 'Do Not Disturb' on a room is a predicate for investigation," he added.
Wynn, who has said in the past that Las Vegas is a target for terror attacks, added that his properties have added various increased security measures in recent years.

"We had to recruit and expand security by tens of millions of dollars to cover every entrance, to retrain the entire workforce, from housekeeping and room service, and people are in the tower and observing people," he said.
"We had to cover every exit and every aspect of the building to see if we could identify and preempt any kind of terroristic or violent action

There is no woman.

If a man told you he had a bunch of guns and was going to shoot up everyone at a concert, what would you do?

Where was all the money coming from? Was he really winning playing at the casino? It's hard to beat the house. If it were easy, casinos would be out of business.

Yes and no.

It is possible for intelligent gamblers who spend insane hours at video slots and video poker machines to start to understand the algorithms behind the highly variable, but not truly random in the mathematical sense card deals and wheel combinations.

SP and others like him can obtain enough knowledge to have a small mathematical edge over the casino.....

if they play the machine near perfectly, and if they play long term, and if they play on a machine they are very familiar with (SP had a strong preference for certain machines), and if they have sufficient reserves to cover dry spells.

As you mentioned, the casinos very much want to stay in business. They are aware of such gamblers. Thus, they change out machines, install new algorithms in current machines etc. which for the skilled players to spend time and money learning the new machines. The casinos also rely on the other "Ifs" to make one term winning very hard- even for "pros".

When i purchaed a vehicle a few years back i went to bank and had a check drawn for the amount, when a friend bought a home in another state he just transferred amount from his account to an account on receiving end.
