I don't think there is any particular style that says that. There are so many aspects of handwriting analysis to take into account. It's been years since I read up on this but I do remember that leaning one way or the other means different things. I'm betting that his signature and other cursive might be more telling about his real nature, but I'm no expert. This is very interesting, though.

Request to seize shooter's assets


The family of one of the concertgoers killed last weekend is asking a Nevada court to appoint a special administrator to take control of the shooter's assets.

John Phippen, 56, of Santa Clarita, California, was at the festival with his son Travis when the shooting started. When the son, a medic, stopped to help someone, Phippen stayed with him and was shielding a woman when he was shot dead, said a neighbor, Leah Nagiyvanyi.
Attorneys for Phippen's family filed the petition Friday in District Court in Clark County. The petition asks a judge to appoint the county's public administrator to account for and control Paddock's estate -- in part to make it available for any future lawsuits filed by the shooting victims.

My handwriting fits many of the indicators of serial killers... I mix cursive/printing quite often and some of it is muddied. Mine looks kind of like the printing on the check he wrote to Hyunday dealership.

My husband learned from an architect he worked for that printing in block letters is much more legible and acceptable in the business world so he's been doing that for 20 years. It has become more popular/normalized to print legibly rather than write in cursive. And with schools discontinuing cursive, I imagine the entire handwriting analysis thing is going to have to go through some changes. People in my generation do tend to mix print and cursive more often, I've found.

I Know a lot of people that took weapons onto their roofs for self defense during those violent riots. I was living in Venice Beach and there was a lot of rioting and arson going on around me.

I was huddled in my bathroom with a 3 wk old and a 4 yr old, while my husband had just left the country on a business trip. People were throwing bricks at my front porch and I was scared to death.

The Korean family next door sent their sons onto the roof with rifles, and they scared off the rioters who were throwing bricks at my front steps.

So just because someone got onto their roof with a weapon, it does not mean they had evil intent. They might have just been defending themselves against having their home set on fire or invaded.

OP/story mentioned that there were no rioters present when he went to his roof, and none showed up. I get what you're saying — that it's not unreasonable for someone to protect themselves and their property (like your neighbors who protected you).

However, in Paddock's instance, his behavior might have also shown that he was spoiling for a shootout. Seems to me like he might have been for quite some time.

I mix cursive and print too. I bet lots do! I would guess that it would describe many of us who started out with mandatory cursive.

ITA. Presumably it didn't look that strange at the time, but knowing what we know now puts that incident in a different light. We were all questioning where he got the idea to shoot from the elevation, since he never been in a military. Maybe that time was allegedly on his roof with a gun waiting for rioters is where he got the idea.

That's how my father wrote - block letters - and he was left-handed.

Personally I find it a shame that schools are discontinuing teaching cursive to children. If I had kids I'd probably end up teaching them cursive myself.

I find graphology a fascinating subject, we're at thread #4 on the subject, pretty soon we'll know everything about Paddock except a motive - the most important thing.

But the story keeps getting more and more interesting (the plot thickens...)

My nephew does too. And the 8's are not drawn like figure skating but an o on top of a bigger o.

My mom teaches calligraphy so he learned from her. He writes his "a's" with two strokes just like the "a" we see on here.

Oh, yeah. Noticed that in the early reports, along with ammonium nitrate. 1600 rounds of ammo in his car with the tannerite. He was planning to do some major damage, but fortunately didn't get the chance.

Psychopathic killers often have active fantasy lives. In most cases, they're violent sexual fantasies involving killing on a more personal level. Guys like Paddock spent time plotting and fantasizing about various ways to kill as many innocent people as possible, in public. Paddock had likely been having fantasies about mass violence for decades. It was entertainment for him to review, research and refine his schemes. He was always itching for a fight with someone, but only wanted to fight when the odds were stacked in his favor. He's a textbook case.
