Lombardo had said earlier in the week that its amazing Campos survived, adding he believes Paddock stopped firing because he saw Campos approaching and was in fear he was about to be breached
He went up there to investigate the open door and as he was doing his job diligently, he came under fire by our suspect. As you know, he was struck in the leg, turned around and retreated, notified his dispatch which was absolutely critical to us knowing the location as well as advising the responding officers as they arrived on that 32nd floor.
I can't picture hiding and not either using a walkie or a phone to call for help. If that was the case, it would have been part of the story, but so far it's been the police first ran into him when they came up on the floor.
All this crazy info changes and LE wont talk again until Fri?
That is so sweet of you. i love reading all of the thoughts and posts and ways that different people relate to this. I am going to work on getting verified so until then, just all my humble opinion. But thank you for your thoughts. :blushing:
-we need these answers. Anyone have a clue at this point?
Oh brother again

wth does that mean???
can't get any more MSM than out of the cops mouth!!
Houston we do -indeed- have a problem !!
I wonder what he was referring to in final paragraph above??
Any mental health professional would also tell you its a fools errand to try and diagnose anything from a handful of vague and contradictory third-person accounts.
The insidiousness of gambling addiction is different than drugs or alcohol because in the beginning, it doesnt affect the body with disease like cirrhosis or esophageal issues or overdosing, said Musilek, who has been a gambling addiction counselor at Harbor Hall for more than 15 years. But as time goes on, if you have enough stress on the brain and theres no serotonin left and its difficult to re-create that so many people become extremely depressed, numb, irritable, or erratic.
Its also a drug-free addiction, but despite there is no external chemical at work on the brain, the neurological and physiological reactions to the stimulus are similar to those of drug or alcohol addicts.
Many addicts... claim they experience a high resembling that produced by a powerful drug.

-Snipped:
So two issues here. First, police dont know why Paddock stopped firing. Second, the hotel apparently didnt notify police immediately that one of their security guards had been shot. According to the timeline given previously, police initially went to the 31st floor as the shooting was still taking place. They then went to the floor above and encountered Campos. By that point, the shooting had stopped and police took another full hour to breach the room. Heres the previous timeline published by the LA Times:
This is a third of a month in.
This is not like waiting for lab results
This is a basic and simple and concrete and finite fact.
A basic one.
The notion that the security guard that is I shall guess is home recuperating and has not heard that the entire sequence of events is off makes no sense.
Would you not call someone and clear it up the minute you heard that what was being reported was not what you experienced?
The guard was there - how could he not know the sequence was wrong??
The guard was there - how could he not know the sequence was wrong??
The point I was making was that we don't know enough to label him addicted to gambling. IMO.
I looked up the DSM-5 Diagnostic Criteria for Gambling Disorder. He needs four of the nine. I don't think with what we know we can put a check next to even one of the criteria. https://www.problemgambling.ca/EN/ResourcesForProfessionals/Pages/DSM5CriteriaGamblingDisorder.aspx
Everything I have read says he did not have money problems.
This is true, but, unfortunately we don't have any interviews with SP, not even medical records. There is a common thread among all of those who have spoken with the media though, from family, right on down to the hookers who spent time with him.
Based on the accounts of those who knew, and spent time with him, I see a man who was addicted to gambling, who did not wish to engage with others unless it benefited him, who was unsociable (MD's sisters and his neighbors agree), and he was also described as having a strong sense of superiority (as a former casino executive described him) and had the very unfortunate possibility of inheriting some of his father's mental health traits.
Even in death, Mr. Paddock seemed to stay true to his ways. He remained in control, answerable to no one but himself. He was ensconced in a carpeted hotel suite. He was wearing gloves, as he often did to protect his sensitive skin. He shot himself before the police broke into his room.
His brother, EP, stated that, “If Steve decided it was time for Steve to go, Steve got up and left, He did what he wanted to do when he wanted to do it.”
On Friday, a law enforcement official said Mr. Paddock’s girlfriend, Marilou Danley, told investigators that he seemed to be deteriorating in recent months both mentally and physically.
Gambling made him feel important, if not social. “You could tell that being in that high-limit gambling environment would lift him up,’’ said Mr. Weinreich, the Atlantis casino host in Reno. “He liked everyone doting on him.”
His father, a 1969 newspaper story was described as a “glib, smooth talking ‘confidence man,’ who is egotistic and arrogant.” His father was diagnosed as being psychopathic, with possible suicidal tendencies.”

We may not be able to diagnose him for certain, but I think, anyone who has dealt with/lived with folks who have personality disorders, and other diagnosis(es), might could get a feel for what this guy may have been suffering from, just by reading/listening to the interviews of those who were around him, and knew him.
His gambling addiction did not help matters either, as it would have exacerbated any mental health issues. I do not see him as mentally insane though. No matter of he would have been diagnosed the same as his father, like his father, none of it forgives what he has done. I would bet a dime to a donut, that he knew very well, that what he was doing was horrifically wrong.
Just a note on the wearing of gloves due to sensitive skin issues, I wonder if that's truly the reason he wore them, or could it also be germaphobe related (money is very dirty), or has he had reason to ensure his prints were covered over the years. Just curious.
