Interesting article from this past January: http://www.lasvegasnow.com/news/missing-woman-case-remains-unsolved

After two years and no arrests in the case, Mkrtchyan's only brother has hired a private investigator Robert Clymer who is a former FBI agent and he has a theory.

"From what I understand, it may focus around Armenian organized crime," he said.

Clymer believes the Armenian mob may be involved in Irma's disappearance and it may be connected to identity theft.

Family provides new clues in search for missing Irma Mkrtchyan

[...]

Marutyan began his own investigation and reviewed phone records. Marutyan says the records revealed Irma was using a second phone and was texting and calling two main numbers.

One of those numbers, Marutyan says, was a counseling center on East Sahara.

Marutyan says an employee there said Irma had a drug addiction problem and she was referred to a center in California.

Marutyan also learned from Irma's phone records that she was involved in some sort of religious group which had deadly aspirations.

"The only way to be close to God is to leave all of your material belongings and ultimately commit suicide," said Arthur Marutyan, Irma's son about the religious group's creed.

[...]

In the years since the disappearance, the family has been involved in a nasty fight between police, Irma's brother Davit Mkrtchyan over the cash and property seized during the investigation.

Las Vegas police have agreed to sit down with 13 Action News about the facts in the case but has postponed the interview for December.

Police reveal details of missing Las Vegas mother

For the very first time, a Las Vegas Metro Police Homicide Lieutenant is revealing the clues investigators tracked down to try and solve a mysterious case of a Las Vegas mother who vanished without a trace nearly 5 years ago.

[...]

"We're convinced that there was definitely foul play involved," said Lt. Ray Spencer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Section.

"That's why we are leading the investigation," added Spencer

Investigators say the facts simply did not add up or clearly point to what happened to Irma when she vanished on Jan. 19, 2014.

"Two separate [text] messages that were sent, very different messages, that kind of basically [were meant] to throw somebody off that she was missing," said Spencer.

The messages were the focus of what was believed to be Irma's final moments.

In one supposed message sent from Irma's phone, she told her ex-husband she was going to California for a business trip.

In another, Irma sent a message to her boss that she was leaving to attend a funeral in California.

"There was some cell phone data that we analyzed and we know when we were told he had left to go to work, we know she never left with her phone," said Spencer.

"That phone never left the house that evening," added Spencer.

This case is such a mystery. In both text messages sent from her phone, the messages said she would be back on Friday. I can't remember if her phone is missing as well.

This is the first I've heard about the key to her car being left behind the gas flap. Why would anyone do that, unless they had arranged for someone else to come retrieve the vehicle at a later time.

Metro Police began to investigate any involvement with her ex-husband Ara Marutyan, her adult son Arthur, and her adult daughter Dianna.

Her ex-husband and son told investigators that Irma had developed a drug problem and said she ended up in Mexico as part of what they called "a religious awakening."

1) Has it been confirmed if she was supposed to do a work trip in California?
2) Why were she and her ex still living together, five years after the divorce?
3) During those five years, did either of them date other people?
4) Did the $74,000 cash ever get explained?
5) What is the source of income for the ex?

I believe it was her ex husband. I believe police know this as well. Her ex husband was abusive. There is more to the story if you dig into it. Her husband and children now live in Armenia, they are not active in the investigation, I believe because they all know what happened to her. They tried to say that Irma developed a drug habit and ran off to Mexico.
