Jennifer's NamUs case was modified yesterday, the first I have heard of her case..

So far, she has two rule out listed
UP12683 06/06/2014 Newport News VA
UP8642 03/30/2011 Fulton GA

I like when I see cold cases being updated/modified in NamUs. It gives me a renewed hope that they have new information or that they are working on these cold cases.

My heart goes out to Jennifer's family. If two children disappeared from the same neighborhood, there is probably a connection. Was someone in the neighborhood gaining the trust of kids, and they thought he was a "friend?"

Anniversary of disappearance today.

Jennifer Lee Martin: 32 Years Later
  • Jul 3, 2019 Updated Apr 6, 2022
"It's like the Earth opened up and swallowed her," she said.

The Earth swallowed her. It makes sense. The Martin home is less than a block away from the 7-11 on Lemmon Drive, the last place where Martin was seen alive. 32 years later, a case like this goes cold.

I wonder if this case is related to Tony Franko... He was a 10 year old boy who disappeared from the same area of Reno (Lemmon Valley) a few years earlier in 1983. He reportedly went to the school but never arrived.
Apparently he had run away the month before he disappeared, but he returned a few hours later. His family initially assumed he had done it again.
Authorities have reason to believe he took an alternate route that day, as he was seen talking to someone in a car on Fremont Street, in the opposite direction of his usual (and more direct) route to school. The same 7-11 that Jennifer frequented was actually a short distance from where he was last seen. According to police, it was not unusual for children to stop there before going to school.
At this time, it appears that authorities have not officially linked the two disappearances. That said, it's at least a strange coincidence, given that they disappeared within such a short distance of each other...
The photo in the newspaper of his parents makes me very sad waiting to see their little girl taken away by some psychopath or mentally ill again...

That seems like a strong possibility, especially with the 7/11 connection.
The 7/11 being a hot spot for kids would make a lot of sense. I know it was for me when I was in middle school and there was a 7/11 right in front of my complex. It would also make sense that a predator would pick up on that and "hunt" that way.
Man though, it's such a crazy thing. Going over to a convenience store in broad daylight and she's never seen again.
