Circumstances of DisappearanceJohn Hahn left his home in San Diego, CA (where he was a long time resident) for Laughlin, NV on June 10, 1989. Prior to leaving for Nevada, John dropped his wife off at the airport. He was reportedly carrying a large amount of cash with him. On the weekend of the 4th of July, 1989, witnesses indicated having seen John Scott Hahn at a Laughlin convenience store where he placed a phone call. He was not heard from again since that time.

CommentsOn July 21, 1989, Jean Hahn received a phone call from the Laughlin, NV substation of the Las Vegas Metro Police, informing her that her husband's car had been found, abandoned, in the desert south of Laughlin. The car had gotten stuck in deep soft sand, and had been in that location for a number of days, with windows rolled down, a full fuel tank, John Hahn's packed suitcase in back seat, and evidence that the radiator/cooling system had been recently filled up and treated with a cooling system “stop leak” compound. The A/C system was inoperative. The car had to be winched out of the soft sand. It was taken to the local impounding yard.

I have the impression that this man had another life... another family and that secret is enough to make any sacrifice to keep it that way... what is difficult to understand is how he left the car there... maybe the wife of the other family found out the truth and wanted revenge... the grieving children helped him... I can't imagine how he could have died... maybe they poisoned him and he escaped in his car and he could have gone into convulsions and ended up crashing and burying himself in that area with sand then the body was taken out and disappeared...
