Found Deceased NV - Kirsten Yamaoka, 21, Reno, 23 February 2017

My first thought was also suicide. I was in Reno earlier this week and someone who knew Kirsten said she was "kidnapped". Could that be "Carjacked"? Will try to get more info...

I think if this were a homicide the press would be all over it. The cloak of privacy around this speaks to self harm in my opinion.

So sad, so very young. RIP Kristen.

RIP Kirsten. I think OD may also be a sad possibility.

Well that was my first notion because the car was seen later without her in it and hasn't been reported as recovered. I'm sure if her story is something we need to ever be told, we'll be told when the family has had time to grieve. I could say I hope she wasn't killed senselessly, but no matter what, there is a killer here, whether it be drugs, sadness or violence.

Respect to her family for writing what must have been a difficult obituary that includes her cause of death. Prayers for those who are wrestling with addiction. I hope this touches someone and makes a difference.

Her obituary brought tears to my eyes. How brave and responsible of her family to share Kristen's struggles. They had no reason to do that other than to try to help others who may be fighting a similar battle. My sincere condolences to her family for their truly tragic loss. What a beautiful girl Kirsten was.
