Of course not, but lets at least get the facts straight. People think Landlords are making out great during this... they are not. Desperate people do desperate things. Not justifying murder, but if squatters took over your property, your house, and legal system wouldn't help, what would you do? Just walk away and say 'ok, you can have it'? Obviously there is more going on with mental health in this situation.
What would I do? It sounds like you are implying the property owner had few choices outside of exercising an extra judicial death penalty for unpaid rent. Of course he had choices, we all do.
While we "are getting our facts straight", let's not label the
victims "squatters" which is a person occupying an abandoned building or unclaimed land, (still not deserving of a death sentence), these people were legal tenants behind on rent like millions of others who are still alive.
They did not deserve to die.
And let's also get our facts straight that he never made any attempt at eviction.
The landlord is a cold blooded killer.
He smiled and laughed after executing his tenants.
DA: Landlord in tenant shooting handled eviction 'his way' | AP News
“Ortega suggested Lozano go to court to evict the people living inside his home. Lozano Sanchez told the witness he would ‘handle it his way,’” the report said.
Lopez told police that he saw Lozano-Sanchez go into a bedroom where a woman pleaded for her life, multiple gunshots were fired and the wounded man ran out.
“The surviving roommate heard and saw the defendant enter into another bedroom in the house, and he heard cries for help from the occupants and thereafter heard the defendant shoot them,” Fattig told the judge. “He also saw the defendant exit that bedroom,
smiling.”
The names of the victims, all in their 50s, were not immediately released.
'Smiling and Laughing' Landlord Shot Three Tenants Because He Did Not Want to Go Through Eviction Process: Authorities
The police version of events reportedly describes the suspect’s
chillingly joyful behavior amid the killings.
According to officers, police found a wounded woman in a driveway. She suffered from gunshot wounds and doctors pronounced her dead at the hospital. The surviving male victim left the residence also suffering from gunshots, police said. Investigators said they discovered a second woman dead inside.
Sanchez shot the surviving man nine times, authorities said.
He told a witness “he didn’t want to go through the eviction process,” and that he “wanted to handle it, quote-unquote, ‘his way,'” said Chief Deputy District Attorney Tim Fattig at the arraignment on Wednesday.
Police reportedly have not found evidence linking this with a nationwide moratorium on evictions, which expired and was partially reinstated for areas seeing high rates of COVID-19.
“His way” allegedly involved expressing glee. A male witness claimed to see Sanchez “
smiling and laughing” after apparently shooting one of the women and again after Sanchez barged his way into another victim room, apparently opening fire and exiting, according to the police report
