A 46-year-old Navy veteran from New Jersey is missing.

Matt Kemper was last seen around 10 a.m. on Jan. 5 in Las Vegas when checking out from the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa. His phone was last pinged an hour later in Glendale, Nevada.

His family is looking for help searching for him.

Kemper’s family describes him as a Korean American male, 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 130 pounds, with no piercings and straight teeth. The family says he wears glasses, a baseball cap, has salt-and-pepper hair, wears jeans, work boots and flannel-type shirts. He drives a gray, four-door Chevy Colorado diesel truck with Utah plates G325FZ.

Kemper’s family says he is not dangerous or violent. He sent some concerning texts to multiple people before not showing up for work at a national park in Arizona, according to the family.

Family looking for missing Navy veteran from New Jersey

Glen Canyon National Recreation Area officials said Kemper works in the Lees Ferry district in Marble Canyon, Arizona. The recreation area includes the area around Lake Powell and lower Cataract Canyon in Utah and Arizona.

Officials said Kemper may be on his way to Marble Canyon or may have gone off the side of the road because of weather.

"The last person to see Matt Kemper alive on Jan. 4 said that he was sad and that "nobody would care if he was alive or not," said his sister.

Matt reportedly showed photos of his sister and himself as kids and was nostalgic.

"He said to the person this is my last day. He gave his jacket to the person and insisted they keep it," said Kemper.

Matt Kemper was last reported at the Red Rock Casino, Las Vegas, said Kemper.

"He does not live there. The witness said he was under severe emotional duress. He texted four close friends a goodbye message and then left the hotel," said Kemper.

After receiving the goodbye text messages, two friends called 911 since the messages were "out of character" for Matt."

Amy Kemper has expressed her disappointment with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department claiming their response time is poor.

"It is beyond deflating and frustrating that Matt, a Navy veteran and a Government employee is being treated like a John Doe or someone who just ran off. His life matters," said Amy Kemper.

A request for comment from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department was not immediately returned.

Amy Kemper also said she is worried for her brother's well-being and that he be dead as the weather "has been really rough out [in Nevada]."

"This is one of my biggest fears and why I am pushing so hard to find him and his truck," said Amy Kemper.

An updated flyer has been made by Amy Kemper in hopes of tracking down his truck — a 2018 grey 4-door diesel Chevy Colorado truck with Utah plates — to enlist the help of search and rescue specialty groups.

Missing Bridgewater Man Found Dead In Nevada

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The search for a missing Bridgewater man has come to an end after Matt Kemper was found dead in Lincoln County, Nevada last week.

Kemper, a U.S. Navy veteran and Bridgewater native, was found on Feb. 17 by Red Rock Search and Rescue team, an all-volunteer group, in Las Vegas, Nevada, confirmed Bridgewater resident and Matt's sister Amy Kemper to Patch.

Amy said it was a joint rescue mission with Lincoln County Search and Rescue and Lincoln County Sheriff's Department.

The family is requesting privacy and funeral arrangements will be announced in Somerset County, said Amy.
