I think most people would freeze and do what they’re told. Me…I’d rather take my chances and not move.

This is an important point. If they want to harm you, they'll harm you wherever. I'd much rather be injured and/or killed where I am than be taken to a deserted place, harmed and left for dead, and have my family search for me until my body is found some years later. Of course, they could always kill you there and then take you somewhere else to dump you, but why make it easier on them? That said, who knows how I'd react if actually put in that position? I may very well freeze and do whatever they want.

ETA: you also have a greater chance of being discovered and people helping you at the primary location, even overnight. There's a reason they want to take you some place else, some place more isolated.

Even if they don't have a plate number, they can run the VINs for that particular model.

Here's some info on VINs.

AutoCheck.com

I'm thinking LE probably has some data crunching software that can narrow down all the VINs of that particular model and then find who owns them by cross checking vehicle registrations.

How popular is that particular truck in the area, I wonder? That looks like a pretty fancy truck.

I don't know if LE has a License plate number..

Agreed...

So, do we think she ever made it into the suspected truck? Or did he return to it without her? Seems risky to mover her from one vehicle to another. JMO

I don't know if all car's telematics work the same way, but in this case -

- the data was sent by a sim card but the data was from GPS, so a lot more accurate than mast pings.

I think it'd be quite easy to narrow down by the vehicle model, time and location.

But it's also possible the telematics had been disabled.
Hi, @Legally Bland. Telematics are quite remarkable. Those of us following the Suzanne Morphew case have learned quite a bit about the capabilities of this technology. In most of the cases studied, the vehicle was already known to investigators and they used the telematics to trace its movements. In the Morphew case, Barry Morphew, the husband who has been charged with her murder, is believed to have tried to disconnect the electronics in his truck during the time which it is believed he was disposing of her body and other evidence.
As of now, we don’t know if LE has identified the vehicle in this case. I’m not sure how easy it is to isolate and identify a particular unknown vehicle using satellite information.

A friend's mother was stopped at a red light when a man opened her back door. She floored it before he could get inside. Always keep your doors locked. Even when driving.

I also wonder if it could be someone who saw Naomi's private insta and became obsessed with her. It could have been a stranger or even someone she knew in real life.

Still trying to hold out hope.

I appreciate all the YT creators covering Naomi. I can’t link them all but if you search her name you will find plenty. Casey Valley is a great big brother. He tells us enough to use our sleuthing skills to piece together scenarios.

Possibly injured....

ITA. If he was carrying something he could have swung it across her face and stunned and injured her before she even realized what was happening.

I know I probably look ridiculous scurrying across parking lots with my head on a swivel getting to my car, but ever since I watched the video of Kelsey Smith being abducted from that Target parking lot back in 2007 I have been super observant about who is around me. No opening the door until it's clear.

i learned the hard way had a friend whose mother was abducted from a shopping mall parking lot in broad daylight. Raped and murdered by a bunch of thugs. A few years later I was held up at gunpoint in a mall parking lot threw them my purse and ran like a bat out hell. But I had already decided they would have to shoot me before I would get any closer to them no way was I going down without a huge fight.
OMG. That’s horrible. I’m sorry you experienced that. Your quick action saved your life. In the unfortunate event I’m in a similar situation, I’m hopeful I will react as bravely as you did. You literally saved your own life.

While I understand your point, I wouldn’t get too stuck on it. My 18 year old son has a 2016 Corvette. He works full time and has for a couple years. He saved up about 8 grand for his down payment and makes monthly payments on his car. He works for a grocery store so it’s not as far fetched as you’d think.
OMG. Can’t imagine the insurance!

Yes, I agree completely. I think the chances of them killing on the spot are definitely less than killing elsewhere after you’ve been kidnapped. I’d 1000% prefer to be shot immediately than raped, strangled, and then shot. Just get it over with if that’s my fate.

Same!!!

Which begs the question, why didn’t she?

fear? thinking if she did what he said he wouldn't hurt her with whatever weapon he had (or made her think he had)

maybe it wasn't the 'right' thing to do but when confronted with that shocking situation, she just did what her instincts told her to

(ITA with other comments though, it really would be better to be shot on the spot than slowly raped and murdered at their leisure, but who knows how you'd react until in that situation)

I think the important clue regarding how she was subdued is this:

"A ping of Irion’s cell phone led Investigators to the industrial park in Fernley where they found her car around noon on Tuesday, March 15. Deputies say evidence found inside the car suggests Irion’s disappearance was the result of a crime. Forensic evidence from the car is being expedited for testing through the Washoe County Forensic Investigation Section."
Naomi Irion investigation: Newly released surveillance video of suspect

DNA evidence doesn't indicate a crime, neither does a damaged interior. What does suggest a crime is blood, in my opinion. It's quite possible that he had a knife and that he used it as soon as he opened her car door. This would be to injure, scare and disable her rather than to kill her. That would be the best way to silently (no gun shot sound) force her to move over rather than get out of the car. She was young, 5'11" and 230 lbs., so if she wanted to push him out of her way, it's not out of the question. An injury would make all the difference.
