Recovered/Located NV - Ronnie (found deceased) & Beverly Barker (taken for med care), RV trip, Stagecoach, 27 Mar 2022

Drive through Luning, NV and you see it's not much and not very promising. I notice a small rest stop on the north side of the highway. Would they have a small dog that they would have wanted to exercise there?

Google Maps

I believe I read that they had no pets with them.

I hope this lovely couple are found soon! Where in the world could they be that someone has not run across them?

I am concerned they are victims of foul play and their vehicles could be very far away from their assumed path in Nevada.

There's really not a place in that desert terrain where the RV would not be found by now. What if the plates have been stripped from the vehicles?

NO CONTACT FOR 8+ DAYS?! So sad that the search began days after their last known contact. They had a Tucson destination to reach by 3/29.

I really don't see them veering off path on purpose. Family on social media seems to have confidence in their ability to problem solve. My hinky meter says foul play.

I really hate thinking this way and hope I am wrong but a much broader alert for these vehicles needs to go out ASAP.

I'm asking the same question @nannymo. Roughly 1293 miles from Albany to Tucson and they were halfway there if the ping near Dyer is accurate? With a rig of that size towing a car, it wouldn't seem easy to simply disappear.

According to the prior notice the last ping was near Coaldale, not Dyer. That's about 35 miles as the crow flies.

Not the expert on this here, but I'd think there would be enough cell towers along Highway 95 that they could distinguish Coaldale from Dyer.

According to the TMobile site, there is coverage at both site, but there are some gaps in the mountains between the two.

This media source from Indiana does quote Dyer, fyi.

Indianapolis' Ronnie, Beverly Barker missing in Nevada desert

Reno news channel 8 has a top-line article about the Barker's disappearance

Indiana couple reported missing in central Nevada

This media report notes the ECSO giving the Coaldale location for the last ping.

I think it makes a difference because it may indicate other routes to search from Dyer:

Highway 168 into Highway 395 in California
Highway 266 into Highway 395 via Bishop.

From Coaldale, I'd think some wanting to avoid detection would go east through Tonopah along Highway 6 then to Highway 93 to the Vegas area ( as we know Vegas is the root of all evil !)

I don't have a personal opinion here. Just trying to look at other possible routes that need to be searched.

This is the weirdest thing. Where could they be? Both their phones are off?

The disappearance of these folks reminds me of James and Michelle Butler, who were also traveling by RV in the Western US (though in Texas, rather than NV, I believe) when they went missing. I fervently hope that the similarities between these cases will remain superficial and that they are located quickly and found safe.

Because someone deliberately took both their phones and removed or damanged the batteries

Is there a confirmed last location where they got gas?

There seems to be conflicting opinion, the Sheriff's office refers to a ping near Coaldale on the morning of the 28th, Log in or sign up to view, that is contradicted by a family member.

I would personally go with police info until they correct it.

Possibly they headed to Dyer area to camp, if pings did indeed come from there on the night of 27th.

Where/when was the last place they filled up with gas, do we know that?

From what I've read, they were not boondock-type camper types and were intending to overnight with friends who lived near Nellis AFB in Las Vegas. That would have been another 4 hours via Highway 95. From the family and APB postings, they sound experienced, cautious, and prepared with multiple cell type backups (phones, Apple watches, computers). Dyer isn't really a place to camp as it's a small rural farming community. There is a hot springs in the area, Fish Lake Hot Spring, but it's on a gravel road and it would have taken them away from Highway 95. I'd also think they would have alerted friends if there was such a significant change in plans for that night.

Has LE flown the area between Coaldale & Vegas, both routes?

The report is the one gas station in Stagecoach NV, off of Highway 50. This should be familiar to anyone who was sleuthing on the Naomi Irion thread.

The first reports were that they were timestamped at 6:40 pm, but that can't be correct because NHP has them 90 miles south in Hawthorne, NV at ~ 5:30pm,

I'm thinking someone is mixing up time zones and it was really 3:40 pm in Stagecoach, as it;s about a 2 hour drive from there to Hawthorne.

It occurs to me mixing up time zones might account for the 4+ hour gap in the last apparent sighting at ~ 6:05 and the phone ping that was initially reported as 10 pm. It might actually be 7 pm if you correct for time zones.

That seems to place them near the airport - perhaps the location of the last good wifi signal? Could they have pulled into the airport for wifi and encountered the wrong person?

What is the last time that anyone heard from them (text/phone call)? Does that match the time of the last ping? When were their phones last used? Sorry for missing this - did read through the thread but don't remember offhand.

"Their phone last pinged the morning of Monday, March 28, in the Coaldale area, a few miles west of Tonopah, the sheriff's office said in a social media post."

Very curious about last credit card use for gas.

Deal! Knowing where they last filled up, knowing the mileage range on the RV gives us a radius. That can be further reduced knowing that they were a few miles West of Tonopah.

Coaldale NV is an abandoned motel and gas station at the intersection of Highway 95 ( north-south main highway to Las Vega) and Highway 6 ( west-east highway from California across Nevada to Utah). That intersection is about 40 miles west of Tonopah, perhaps 46 miles west of the Tonopah Airport. There are no services at Coaldale, just abandoned and vandalized old buildings.
