Recovered/Located NV - Ronnie (found deceased) & Beverly Barker (taken for med care), RV trip, Stagecoach, 27 Mar 2022

  • #141
Where did they stop for supper? Did they usually eat out, or buy groceries and park to cook. How likely is it that they drove 4 hours after dark? What was their usual time for parking and sleeping?
When you have an RV of that size, chances are you don't need to stop for food. But definitely might pull over to have a meal. Cooking would depend on the type of power they are able to run in an RV like that. We have a smaller pull-type camper so I'm not familiar with what theirs offers. Probably the best of the best. Thinking they may have planned to eat upon arrival at their next scheduled camping spot. JMO

Sheriff's post incorrect according to family
So, what we maybe know?

March 27th
- Confirmed sighting gassing up at Stagecoach.
- 5:30pm RV sighting Hawthorne (approx 1.5 hrs south of Stagecoach)
- 6:05pm RV sighting Luning (25 mins south)
-7:10 pm sunset
-10:16 pm ping 50 mile radius Coaldale (35 mins south of Luning).

-They were heading to Nellis AFB, 5 hrs from Luning. (Might they have tried to find a shortcut to save time)?

-Friends in Nellis seem not to have reported them missing when they failed to arrive.

otto - you really need to do a google drive from Luning south.

Your choices are eating roadkill bunnies or eating at the tragic-looking Wild Cat Brothel in Mina.

Hawthorne is the only real place to eat until you get to Tonopah and I am quite convinced they did not arrive in Tonopah.

I'm also convinced they did not arrive in Dyer, either.

I think people are trying to apply the 50-mile zone range for their last ping to a settlement and Dyer seemed the best candidate in the area.
They simply cannot be driving anywhere. They would need gas 5 times over by now, and credit cards would be in use. Cell phones and Apple watches would ping. Even if someone stole their RV, the thieves would still need gas. Even if they voluntarily disappeared they still need gas. (Note - I can think of no serious reason why that would be the case.)
IOW, you have a very large camper vehicle with Indiana plates in the deserts states of NV or possibly CA and AZ. Where did it go? Where is it now?

There are no shortcuts on this trip. After deciding on Highway 95, their only other choice is whether to go east on Highway 6 from Tonopath to Highway 93 for some extended solitude on desert highways.

None of the folks they were supposedly scheduled to see alerted anyone to their no shows, apparently? How firm were these plans?

I'm just not getting it. Did the friends at Nellis do NOTHING when they couldn't reach them by phone/text/email?

What am I missing? What has not been shared publicly? The Silver Alert is almost a week overdue from my perspective.

If there is criminal involvement, that's a really late start! I understand there may not be anyone at fault for this but questions, I have questions.

There is an awful lot of empty space out there.

The most telling thing for LE to look for is the rig with a toad. So if you are a perp, do you dump the trailer or the KIA?

I'd assume the perp wanted the trailer with the big Ford engine, so you'd dump the KIA. Far less conspicuous in a parking lot or something. I'd be checking parking lots west into California and east into Utah. North to Hawthorne and south into Vegas. That is what I would be looking for. Easy enough to put some stolen plates on it.

Likewise. Put a stolen or old plate on the trailer and it becomes very anonymous. If you do the google drive on a section between Hawthorne and Luning, you probably see 8-10 similar rigs. Not to splashy, but big, with a nice big engine.

The key is to break up the set to drive it out of the area.

( And this would likely mean more than one perp involved, and there should be a another abandoned or parked vehicle around the area where the Barkers were removed from their vehicle.)

Circle is 50 mile radius from Dyer

Is it possible they paid for gas with cash instead of credit card? Some people still do that from time to time. Just a thought,

As far as the Silver Alert goes… from what I read, the family only found out today that it wasn’t being done. The reason police gave was because the Barkers were not Nevada residents.

Usually pumping your own gas, it's easier to slip in a card rather than have to go inside to pay cash. JMO though I live in NJ, which the only state left (I believe) where we don't pump our own gas.

I also want to note that, just like every other major highway in the US, this major highway is a route for drug trafficking,

And like everyother major city out there, Las Vegas and Reno have large drug selling gangs and the violence and theft that go along with it all.

I would have to think some perp noticed something about them that made them seem vulnerable enough to risk carjacking them and potentially harming the Barkers.

You're right. I reemphasize then that THEY are no longer driving this RV. If they were, then there would be gas, food etc receipts., and phone contact. They're either stuck somewhere or they ran into the wrong people at the wrong time.

Oregon is the only other state that has the same policy that prevents you from pumping your own gas

As an active older RVer, I can tell you the older crowd does not leave to go anywhere past 5ish. Sadly, I think someone entered their rig at Stagecoach (or before) and overtook them. By the way, this is all over all the Facebook RV lists. Very sad.

Used to be the only other state. No longer. I believe Oregon changed that in 2015. Anyway, they would be used to pumping their own gas and I imagine it would be a hefty amount to fill up that RV. Not necessarily a "pay cash" preference.

They were seen on video there getting gas and snacks. Doubtful anyone could take over their RV at that point. More likely, if so, in a more remote area, perhaps if they became lost or stuck.

If you parked that KIA in a big unpatrolled parking lot, it could be weeks until someone started checking. I think casinos keep pretty close check on who is parking there, so you would not leave it in a casino lot.

But something like a Walmart, or Lowe's or other big box store that has a lot of churn.

The closest big stores might be in Bishop, CA. The closest Walmart-sized lot would be in Beatty NV.

Oh yeah. That would be a $300 fillup

Just looking at their whole trip, they were apparently taking 4 days to drive to Tucson from Oregon.

This recent media source says they were heading to Fallon on March 26.

Could the 6:40 pm fuel stop in Stagecoach have been on the 26th, just before staying over in Fallon?

Silver Alert issued for missing couple traveling through Nevada northeast of Las Vegas

As noted a couple times above, heading out on a long highway drive in late afternoon would frighten me, what if I had a breakdown?
