This says the last time she was seen was when she got in an argument with her mother.
Details of Disappearance
Shantelle was last seen in Dayton, Nevada on November 14, 1988. She got in an argument with her mother and left their apartment on Dayton Valley Road at 7:30 a.m. Her mother reported her as a missing person shortly afterwards. She stated her daughter had made friends she didn't approve of.

Shantelle has never been heard from again. Authorities reopened her case after receiving an inquiry from one of her relatives in 1999. There has not been any activity on her Social Security number and investigators were unable to locate Shantelle through an extensive driver's license search.

Shantelle had moved to Dayton from Bishop, California about two weeks before her disappearance. Some witnesses reported seeing Shantelle at a Dayton street dance two days after she was reported missing. It's possible she met with foul play at the dance.

She may have been seeing a boy at the time of her disappearance; if she was, investigators have never identified him. Rumors that drugs were involved in her case have not been substantiated. Shantelle's father has been ruled out as a suspect in her case. Her mother now lives in Redding, California. Her case remains unsolved.

Edit- There's another photo of Shantelle with an unidentified friend in this article. I'm thinking it was a friend from when she lived in Cali? I find it hard to believe that in 2 weeks of living in NV she had already made these "bad" friends. I remember moving to Tallahassee when I was 17 and it took a few weeks to find a new group. I noticed that the unidentified buried remains were found on the same street where Shantelle lived with her mother in 1988. I hope this is her and that there can still be justice for her after all these years. MOO.

That looks like a fairly new shopping center. I wonder where her apartment building was in 1988? I couldn't find an address nor a general block number. Only the mention that she lived in an apt on Dayton Valley Rd. I see at least 3 apartment complexes grouped together not far up the road from where the remains were found: خرائط ‪Google‬‏‏

Looking at the overview map really gave me chills. It's near the river. I'm wondering when that shopping center was built.

ETA: I usually start an UID thread for unidentified remains but I'm going to wait until we have more details. I didn't see anyone else who is missing from Dayton that this could be. Shantelle is most likely on LE's radar as a missing person they want to check against the remains. If it's not her we should know fairly quickly. MOO.

The whole area looks newer on your overhead view. They could have buldozed older buildings to develop like they do here in Florida but I'm thinking it was just dirt and tumbleweeds before. I think who ever it is (and I agree no one else seems missing from there) they where buried not to far down a long time ago, where the construction workers ended up finding them.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office called on the public for help Tuesday to help solve a cold case that has confounded authorities for 31 years.

In a post on Facebook, the sheriff's office said Shantelle Hudson, a Dayton High School student, disappeared on November 12, 1988 -- leaving no trace behind.

To add, I came upon some strange new information on her case, not sure how valid they are, but maybe worth looking into. If not, at least to rule it out - SHANTELLE HUDSON MURDERED

Interested in developments possibly linking Shantelle Hudson’s case to Phillip Garrido? I’m a missing persons advocate working with Shantelle’s family and the Lyon County Sherriff’s office. LE has suggested PG may be linked in Shantelle’s case in this 2019 article. Cold cases: The unsolved homicides and disappearances of Lyon County

Subsequent conversations with LE seem to suggest PG may have disposed of Shantelle’s remains somewhere in Central California or Nevada. Additionally, the remains would be in a heavily wooded area near a river.

Based off of this information we have developed two potential Jane Does that could be linked to Shantelle and are currently being compared by LE. Reference UP7532 and UP8425 on NAMUS.

If anyone else can review Jane Doe records in the area suggested with similar demographics to Shantelle Hudson we need your help! It’s entirely possible we could have missed a Doe and additional eyes are needed.

It should be noted as well, that even if Phillip Garrido is not responsible for Shantelle’s disappearance. LE is still believes the details of Shantelle’s remains could be accurate. Possibly disposed of by another suspect.
