They claimed the clip was taken out of context, but said he had been targeted online.

Rescue crews in Nevada have been frantically searching for Frehner.

There have been boots on the ground, and aerial resources have also been deployed.

But, details about Frehner’s last movements remain scant.

You are so right. This situation is personal to me through several mutual friends. His actions look terrible, but he was facing criminal charges, loss of his vet license and a ruined reputation. He would have been severely punished for his (alleged) criminal behavior.

The death threats to him and his family, which I have read myself online and also heard from his family, are unconscionable. Social media provides an avenue for vindictive and imperfect people to destroy lives.

The father of missing veterinarian Dr. Shawn Frehner told police he doesn’t believe his son would do anything to harm himself, according to a missing person report filed the day after Frehner disappeared.

According to the missing person report, Rex Frehner told police the last time he spoke with Shawn was on Sunday around 9 a.m.

The National Park Service began a search at Lake Mead after Shawn Frehner’s keys, wallet, and cellphone were found in his truck parked at Hemmenway Harbor.

Such a coward! Made a career of beating on defenseless animals he was supposed to be helping and then takes the coward's way out when it's time to face the music. I looked up reviews of him as a veterinarian and there are lots of animal abuse complaints years before this one that was finally caught on camera.

So he was facing felony charges which presumably would have destroyed his reputation and business: IMO, to treat someone's animal who is suffering and needs help in a cruel manner which causes considerable medical damage is criminal.


Shawna Gonzalez, whose animals Frehner had treated since August, captured the footage of the veterinarian beating her horse Big Red.

It’s horrible, I never, ever wished this upon him, I never wished this upon anybody,” Gonzalez told 8NewsNow. “This is not what I wanted in the end at all.”

Big Red suffered extensive injuries that will likely require thousands of dollars to treat, including abrasions to his skull.
