Do we have a bail fund here?![]()
If Tricia were here she would write all of the obligatory things about how if you head out to search, you do so on your own but I would definitely contribute towards bail if this were the reason why!!!

I agree with you.
I think they made it up as a joke (judging by the entire website). The "joke" may not be funny to all, but it's nothing I haven't heard coming from guys mouths (i'm a college student) when they are just messing with each other. Could it have a bit of truth? Of course. In my opinion, does it have any truth? No, not just by looking at that web page.
I'm the one who originally found it and posted it on the SL Tribune website, under the first story covering the case. Yes...it sounded like a joke, but too too much. Maybe it's because I have gay friends, and have known people for years who turned out to be gay.
What bothered me, subsequently, is how the pages were wiped clean, leaving only traces on archive.org.
If they were just jokes, why would they be taken down so quickly when someone noticed them? I went there looking for pictures of Steven, because at the time, there were none online.....and that's why I originally posted the link on the Tribune site.
Okay, so I drove over there. And I gotta tell you. . .if I didn't know a person disappeared on that street I wouldn't know a person disappeared on that street. If there was a 21st century version of My Three Sons or some 50's type family show, it would take place on that street. Of course, except for the fact that all old people live in the neighborhood.
===============
That's all I got. If anyone has any questions about my trip or wants me to go back out there, I am up for it but I will not knock on doors. . .I am sure those people have been harrassed enough. Thanks.
If it was a joke the family probably didn't want people to think otherwise or the other friends didn't want everyone looking at it. Weren't some of them married now? If it wasn't a joke, guess the same reasons for not wanting them out there could apply. JMHO![]()
Thank you. Wow. I've snipped your excellent post.
There's another kind of job, that people disappear into: magazine and newspaper subscriptions. They load young people up in buses and take them through various cities, knocking on doors. A group was just arrested in Utah, when they started cruising neighborhoods and stealing. It's one of those jobs young people do, thinking it'll be better than it really is. Knocking on doors is tough.
I've just looked at the videos again. That SUV/crossover/minivan keeps looking more suspicious to me, since it pulls up and parks right where it can look at Steven walking up the street.
(I think I just put a thumbs-up in...we'll see)
I believe I've seen those kids - not selling just subscriptions, but candy and incense as well - just teenagers. In the past two years or so, I've also seen a LOT of young, seemingly able-bodied, folks begging on the streets. I mean like late teens, early 20's. It's weird - like there's some type of begging ring or something.
I am going to throw something totally out there. . .I know Steven was "religious", etc. But anyone who lives here knows that Vegas is quickly becoming a haven for amateur porn. We have billboards all over the place "Bait and Tackle". But it's not a company that sells fishing equipment. It's a company that is looking to recruit amateur porn actors. It is also common (the only reason I know this is because I have done indie filmmaking here. . .PG/PG-13 stuff, guys. . .but some lighting, sound guys I have worked with have worked on porn sets in Las Vegas). . .but it is not uncommon for some porn "companies" to rent out a vacant house and do their movies there. Steven DID need the money. And a house in Anthem would kind of fit into what I think a porn company would look for. The reason: a lot of these places are operating illegally. . .no blood tests, no condoms, no licenses, etc. . .so they have to do it on the "down low". What better way to get away with it than to do it in a 55+ community?
That's get me to thinking that I have read in the past couple years where escort services, prostitution rings, etc. have been running out of some exclusive neighborhoods in Las Vegas because no one would expect them to be there. . .like hiding right under law enforcement's nose. QUOTE]
Interesting theory. Anything is possible. However, if he encountered a totally sleazy gang of criminals, I think they would have taken his car keys and disposed of the car, lest the operation be exposed.
Thus it brings me (and I say me as it is my opinion) back to where I began. Steven abandoned his car in the off the beaten path location on purpose. The only questions are why and who was he meeting?
I don't think it was anyone who lived in the development as they would not want the car anywhere near them.
O/T: Funny you mention that. Just a few hours ago I had a young couple approach me while I sat in my vehicle at the mall waiting on my Mom. Said they were living on the streets and needed $5 more to get a room for the night. And just a few weeks ago a young man approached me at a local Sheetz saying someone had brought him to this area for a job and they left him. He had no money, no ride and was hungry.
Yeah I was probably scammed...I gave them each less than $5...but what is this? The new thing to do?
Steven obviously got to this neighborhood with exact directions, but how did he get them? The phone logs have been check and and apparently there was nothing out of the ordinary. So, did he meet someone and they gave him the directions on paper? Going along the lines of what Fasteddy4 suggested, maybe a "talent" scout. ether way it seems that who ever he was going to see he would have had to have made contact with them prior in person seeing as there is absolutely no paper trail and that person lives some where within that 4 house area.
However, there was a comment made on the article written by the las Vegas journal review that a man fitting Steven's description was seen on up on MLK and Craig taking a bus. i don't know how legit that is but it could be a good sign.

...and all of that, leads me back to one of my first questions: are we positive that's Steve in the video?
The behavior of the person who left the car, is more like that of one who's "dumping" it...rather than an owner.
