I dunno. Since the golf course sits in the valley/canyons between the home-filled hills, someone might have to be hiking in the rocky slopes to find a body (particularly if it's among the trees and brush).

The course's website gives some perspective: http://www.reveregolf.com/index.php If you watch the pictures, you'll notice that from down on the fairways, you can't even see the houses up on the ridge, it's that steep.

That is my second most-logical-sounding theory. It could have been completely an accidental death.

This is something Steven's aunt mentioned to me at the PC. But if it happened on Sunday, why didn't he use his phone to call for help? We know the phone was still useable on Monday.

No. The root of the word "liable" is not "lie." According to Mr. Webster himself, the root of the word is: Etymology: Middle English lyable, from Anglo-French *liable, from lier to bind, from Latin ligare — more at ligature.

When I read the post to which you are referring, I was pretty sure the poster just misspoke or mistyped and really meant "viable."

I have not met this PI, but looking at his website and the posts on FB, he seems a competent man with his heart in the right place. I just do not get the we're-all-being-played-for-fools-in-a-vast-conspiracy-to-keep-us-in-the-dark idea. Not at all.
Thank you Canyon...it was a typo...I meant to say "reliable". And i truly believe this PI has in his best interest to find and bring Steven home also!

As far as the MOI--mechanism of injury--what about just jumping? I haven't spent a great deal of time in the desert around Las Vegas, but I have spent my whole life in similar terrain in Southern Utah. There are many, many places one could take ones life just by jumping. Maybe pills? Did he have a knife? Again, I don't think the suicide was planned out, so jumping makes the most sense to me.

I really hate writing this. It makes me so, so sad. As several have mentioned, I can't follow any scenario through without reservation or question, but really, it seems to be the most logical of the options right now.

Then there's the strange ways:
We had a local (SLC) TV host chain himself up and drown himself, a few years after being injured in a paraglider accident.

And from the satellite view of SCA, you can see how that golf course winds and twists around. I know the family walked "the course", but the slopes are what I'd be more interested in....especially in the brush.

I wonder how large that steep "waterfall" cliff is.....and the surrounding area? IMAGE

i know the webster def and i know the Lingo and play on words cops use. typo error? okay its possible but if it was "liable" that was said then the correct spelling to quote would be "lie-able" and no conspiracy intended but as i and others have suggested it was just a way to see who would show up and be able to record the event and participants using pics and video.
as for keeping us in the dark? how else would you describe it - literally?:waitasec:

Sarx - thank you very much for taking the time to share your expertise on searches and dogs. Greatly appreciated!

Maybe it happened on Monday?

I've had my cellphone go dead, then if I turned it off for several hours, it would work a bit again. When you're on "roam", your phone is using more power than if you were in its home area.

So he stayed out in the desert all night with no jacket - even though he had several in his car? How does that make sense?

And not for nothin' but how many people do you suppose come to Vegas to pray and meditate on the direction of their life? I would head to Utah - the Promised Land - for that!

Does anyone have pictures of the dogs that were at the search on Saturday? 3 of them right? Something is just bugging me about this.

It is possible if he is there he has been missed. We have talked about this case before but Chandra Levy looked up a map for the Klingle Mansion in nearby Rock Creek Park. it still took 13 months to find her. Her clothes were found nearby. Her computer basically told them where to find her, yet searchers never found her.

From this picture it looks like if you walk far enough you hit remote land, is that accurate?

Yes, but you'd have to cross some streets. The course itself is huge, and almost makes it's own wilderness ... sitting beneat the homes as it does.

Here's the satellite view.

A is where the car was found. You can see the golf course, and how if you walked through the golf cart path, you could reach the west mountains.

In the upper left corner, that's the Henderson Executive Airport. Last Saturday's search was conducted just south of there (south of Volunteer Blvd in the triangular-shaped area).

I wonder if one of our WS searchers has his web address or Facebook. Often pets pictures are shown there.

Entirely possible. It's pretty rugged for a golf course! I wonder if the PI can arrange another search.

You see just to the left of the waterfall there's a rock-lined channel heading down toward the green? Right where they meet, there's a thin white line with a small triangle on top -- that's the flag for that hole. Which would be around 6'-7', I suppose. Which means that the part of the waterfall that shows in the picture must be at least 50' high.

Here's a slightly different view:
