I don't disagree with what you say about the area -- you saw it and I didn't.

But if Anthem's a retirement community, probably not that many of them are heading home from work.

Not all of Anthem is a retirement community. Just Sun City.

Gravel pit? Construction area? I'm not quite sure what I'm looking at. But it looks like a lot of good places to hide a body.

Looks like a gravel pit to me, with ponds. It'd give you access to materials you could use to dump over a body, too.

There's some other shapes there, including a perfect circle.

Yep. I've sat in the Colorado City Town Hall and sifted through them looking for underage mothers. I've probably seen 10,000 or more. I have about 30 copies in a box at home.

Great to know. Thank you!

Have you every interviewed any of the "Lost Boys?"

Heh.
Well...see, we all learned something. I assumed everyone would know what "Dockers" were. They DID know...but not always what I'd assumed ;)

Yeah, and where I come from "dockers" are stevedores/longshoremen/dock workers - you know, the guys who load and unload ships? ;)

That circle thing is strange. I thought at first it might be a water tank. And is that a parking lot around it?

Maybe fasteddy4 can pass by there on a dark night and let us know how dark it really is along that road. There are occupied homes to the east and the west. IMOHO, the spot they were digging up in those pics was too close to the road to bury a body. I suppose for hiking or hunting, it wouldn't have been a big deal.

Correct me if I'm wrong Fairy, but I believe this spot that was being dug up was where a small bone was found early in the search, and was relatively close to the road. The man was walking to the left, and behind me as I made my way. There were three of us that started out behind the other searchers.

During the end of the search two young men, walking back to the main road, had found a larger bone that was removed by the forensic person. I overheard conversation that it was large enough to be a femur bone, but folks weren't sure if it was a dog or human bone. If I had to I could locate this area on a map.

I think you're right; a water tank. Some kind of processing building, and vehicles.

Lots going on out there in the daytime, and it'd be quiet at night.

Take a look HERE.

You can see the search area. Zoom in on it, making sure that you've got the green arrow in the center of the screen -- then look at what it is.

That's where I'd be searching next.

I agree. I've been studying a map of the area, and if the tip the PI got seemed right on than IMO we should have been searching this area also.

So many times we hear that an area was searched, and when an actual body was found it was within miles of the original search area. This is why I believe the search area should have been larger.

...and this is why the Susan Powell search took place without public volunteers. That area's too dangerous to send searchers out on.

Maybe the paragliders darting all over the west desert, could come to Henderson and do some low flights over that area?

I have. I've spent several hours with them. Most are great guys, but thrust into a world they're totally unprepared for. Many drink too much or can't hold stable work.

As an aside, one of the more interesting stories of my career was the "rescue" of the two Fawns.

The spot they were digging with the detective and the CSI investigator was close to the road. I didn't hear anything about a larger bone while I was there.

We were standing by the trailer watching them dig just a few yards away, right?

Several helicopters and small planes flew over while we were searching!

With our back to the trailer they were digging a few yards away, and to our right? This is where the larger bone was found. The PI checked out this spot after he had checked out the black notebook.

The smaller bone was found early in the search, and not many people were around to witness the digging, but it was the first to be collected by the forensic person.

I think that at least one person has to be 55 years old. That's the rule at Somerset in Reno where I live, another Del Webb project. It's also out in the sticks, with wide open spaces. Dirt cheap land.

After watching 48 Hours saturday night, I have come to the conclusion that people are buried everywhere! A woman killed her husband, and buried him in the back yard! With the help of her 12 year old daughter! Her daughter finally told someone 20 years later! Her daughter, son, and a cousin knew about it ALL those years!

gsmith made some interesting, and IMO important statements....thank you gsmith!

not exact quote: According to LV cell tower pings Steven was all over the LV Valley.

Steven's dad thinks it was a criminal act by a particular group, and he thinks the police are investigating.

Someone in St. George knows why he went to LV. Who did he meet there who had ties to Las Vegas?

It sure would be a lot easier to go undetected burying a body in your own back yard than just off a somewhat well-travelled road just across from the airport. But that's JMO.

Maybe someone IS talking.

Yes, I believe someone from St. George KNOWS why Steven was there. Maybe someone he knew was down there from St. George.

Does anyone know anything about his boss from St. George?

So here's an overactive imagination scenario:

You park your vehicle beside the road in broad daylight. You start digging a grave. If anybody stops, you say you're burying your pet dog.

There's a moment of risk when you drag the tarp/blanket whatever over to the grave, when somebody might notice that the load's too big and heavy for even a very large Rotweiller, but unless somebody actually stops to help, they're not likely to notice.
Maybe you even have a dead dog to bury on top of the other thing. Then even if somebody suspicious digs up the grave, they'll stop when they find the dog bones, because that's what they're expecting to find.

They may not notice, but they'll remember. (I hope no one in LE reads this, they're gonna think we're old hands at burying dead bodies!)
