Laytonian....I see in the article you just referred to, that the bishop says
he spoke to Steven two days before he went missing and that he was
upbeat and looking for work.

Are we talking about a new entry for the timeline?

Must have been Friday, Dec 11th?
Obviously. Duh.

Got it. Thanks for the reminder. It's been SO LONG........;)

Thanks, I don't think I had seen that article before.
It's one of the news stories I added to the timeline, after the search. They all said the same thing, but each threw in a little different angle. What the article did though, was (maybe) pin down when Steven and the Bishop talked about finding Steven a job.

Too bad it's such a common name...

Would knowing more about him, move things forward? I don't think so, except that it's interesting to read a new name after all these months.

laytonian....in reading and re-reading links from the timeline, a poster mentions in another forum that Steven's dad had a number of things he
was involved in and that maybe someone was getting back at Steven.

I know nothing about what goes on in that area, but I wondered if you (or anyone else) thought there was anything to that statement, or should we just file it.

Thanks.

Reference for the above is the insession link under steven's picture on the timeline, post #37

Good heavens. Rolf's the editor of the weekly neighborhood-style newspaper Davis County Clipper.

Did they provide a link to those "things", or was it just speculation (or something posted from under a bridge)?

ETA: I see your edit, and I'll raise you one ;)
That's a very strange post, for sure. Familiar in style even.

:waitasec: Laytonian....this is why those of us who are not in Utah ask for your opinion.

I really don't want to get into a discussion of the poster - as I do not know a bit about him/her. There are no links in that post. I will say that the person starts
threads on FDLS matters, and has been there a long time.

Our thread looks so deserted. Is it because it is so depressing to think that
Steven is gone or that the family may be running DNA on items from the search...or what?

It is almost as though we are paralyzed. Was the tip real? If it was not a
good tip, we should be able to re-group and get together again.

I honestly don't know. It just seems off-the-wall to me.

I just can't figure out what s/he is hinting at. They've got some non-working links supposedly saying that "Steve Koecher" is a gamer. (Don't know why someone would put up nonworking links!) ...yet when I've googled "Steve Koecher", it's often someone else entirely. That is how he refers to himself, though.

Nearly all LDS families have polygamist ancestors, but the FLDS are completely separate. They certainly wouldn't invite a new man IN, when they're trying to get rid of competitive males.

So I just don't know what it's all about.

I don't know why. It's been this way here since when....Saturday night?

I wish I had behind-the-scenes info, but I really don't. It's like I'm standing physically closer, but in truth, no closer than anyone else.

I have no idea what's going on!

No. I was making a feeble joke. There's a pro golfer with the same name, a prominent northeastern lawyer, a couple of politicians, and a champion fisherman...

I've had family reasons for not being around. Good stuff, but keeping me busy. I imagine after that huge rush of energy and emotion, we all need some recharging time to think and ponder.

I knew the name was fairly common but not THAT common.

You're right about needing a recharge.

We always seem to come to a juncture then some new info comes out and we get more ideas.

This is probably a terrible excuse, but the weather here in Utah has been soooo beautiful for three days now. It feels criminal to stay inside. Don't worry, no doubt it will rain or snow soon. Plus if others are in school, it's finals time.....

No worries, I'm still dedicated to Steven. I think a little regrouping is good!

So many of us are dedicated, which is nice, it is just that there is so little to go on.

excessive compulsive and paranoid schizophrenic behavior.
his friend mentioned sk parking the car down the street from the restaurant (because he missed it) where they were meeting then walks back to the restaurant when it would have been easy to just make a u turn and park closer.
then he parks at a dead end in henderson and just leaves the car and walks down the street turns left and keeps on going.
my take on this is he didnt want someone associating where he was by seeing where his car was parked ie restaurant and residence. or he didnt want whoever he was meeting to associate who he was by the kind of car he was driving. or we could just start a whole new thread on these theories alone.

what we need to see is any other video of steven preferably soon before he goes missing so we can compare build features and mannerisms of movement to the surveillance video.
and with a majority of the population living from paycheck to paycheck and sk with no known income for the past 7 months? cmon how do you buy the basic stuff like toilet paper, soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush food and water? i know the LDS has a support system (deseret industries i think) but still cmon!
all that money spent for college and he ends up destitute - if i were his folks id be saying : cmon! really? really? is that the best you can do? are you even trying?
there are also a lot of mean people out there - maybe at FEDEX his co workers were razzing him "dude, you got a college degree. what are you doing working here and taking jobs away from us simple folk that arent so lucky like you . . .?" - statements to that effect or worse: "hey college boy! if your so smart how come you cant even finish a sentence? . . ." yup people can be real mean.

I wonder if we should mention to the PI that our thread is slowing down tremendously, and if we had even just a little bit to go on with results of his investigating we could start the brainstorming again? If our thread is helpful to the PI one would think he'd like us to keep brainstorming.

  • #57
I'm still here. Just don't know which way to turn next.

I kinda think he wants to be the one to solve it.

He can take the credit for solving this case. I don't believe any of us have any motive in taking the credit, but a priority in finding SK. We have some really sharp thinking folks on WS, and we can be of some assistance.

You make a great point though. It's sad to realize that this may be the case.

Somebody knows something. Unless this is a case of a seasoned killer somebody had to notice odd behavior coming from a friend, or family member. Somebody is protecting this person.

If it's a suicide than where is SK's body?
