I was looking at everything I could think of! I have to go make dinner, but maybe someone could try specifics. Like "Megadeth+Las Vegas+December+ 2009.

Something should come up, right?

Arcanium is pretty far out there, don't look SK's type at all. This is the more presentable site: http://www.garageband.com/artist/arcanium

Warbringer is a coming band in the Slayer/Marilyn Manson mode, not quite my thing but pretty mainstream. The Warbringer website: http://www.centurymedia.com/newsdetailed.aspx?IdNews=8321&IdCompany=2 Includes a summary of the year with mention of the bad weather before the Las Vegas show. And the number of other bands that they mention leads one to conclude that there might be a lot of work for a roadie...

Another Warbringer site: http://www.last.fm/music/Warbringer

I think the best thing to do, would be to make contact with the group(s) and send them this NAMUS link or the missing persons flyer.

Have you found any additional email addresses that also link to an eBay account?

Or received a reply from any contact (buyer/seller) through eBay?

I haven't.

I didn't try because you stated you had. Maybe there is no one on the other side of the account to respond to inquiries. I guess I'll send my own and see what happens. :-)

Good idea. I'll work something up later today.

I'd make it really simple:

Hello --
A fan of yours is missing, and his family is desperate to find him. I have attached a copy of the missing persons flyer. If you and your associates could take some time to look it over and let us know if you recognize him, it would be greatly appreciated! IF you know Steven, just tell him that his family loves him, and doesn't care WHY he left -- they'd just like a call from him.

Something like that.

Aw, shucks :blushing:

I just kinda whipped it out in 30 seconds...but I think keeping it as short as possible, might mean it gets read.

NOW.....someone needs to think of a GOOD NON-SPAMMY-SOUNDING subject for the email.

How about something like:

***MISSING MEGADETH FAN***

Wow, some people are so straightforward. I've been struggling with all the parts about who we are and why we care, etc., but you're right, those don't need to be here. But should it say something about the date of disappearance?

I think there's enough detail are on the missing person's poster. IMO, we just need to tempt them to open the attachment OR read the email in HTML.

Hopefully, it's generic enough it could be used for any situation we think of.

Last straw time?

That'd work. Just don't post it on Warrant ;)

Or Warrant or whatever the names of those other bands are....

Guess I should have put "INSERT BAND NAME HERE," but I didn't want to confuse the issue!

Nah - new straw time.

There is a UID forum here on WS for a young man who was killed in an auto accident following a Grateful Dead concert. IIRC, the band has been very supportive in helping to ID him. Hopefully, we'll have some luck with this too.

15 years ago, and no one can yet figure it out?

The WS thread's closed, but I found this URL: Doe Network

So there was a note signed by two girls, with a phone number on it -- and no one can track THAT down? In 1995, there weren't that many area codes in the US, that each (🤬🤬🤬) 914-xxxx number couldn't be easily traced.

No DNA's been done?

Nothing?

There's a lot that's been done. There's an entire subforum:

Lots has been done, there just doesn't seem to be anyone looking for him. :(

Whilst we're checking out the band connection, I'm thinking back to what we already know and what we've already discussed.

We have often focused on the possibility that Steven had to have been in contact with whomever may be responsible for his disappearance. Either by phone or computer. The check on his own computer, evidently, turned up nothing. And his phone records didn't turn up anything "unusual" either.

Is it not possible that the "usual" phone contacts could be considered suspicious? The odds of being harmed randomly by a complete stranger are far lower than those of being harmed by someone familiar to the victim. All possible motives must be seriously considered. I wish we could have some level of comfort that has been or is being done.

Is LE overlooking the obvious?

Do we have *any* proof that LE is investigating this case? HPD started their cold case unit with great fanfare a few weeks ago, but still only has ONE CASE listed.

It seems logical to me, that a crime involved someone he knew.

Yesterday's drop-in visitor had a theory, which is the basic crime theory we've mulled for months (except DIV added times, and opined that the body was dropped between Vegas and St George). That would indicate a perp heading back to St George.....and IMO, being from that area.

I've said for a long time that the searches should be around SK's home in St George. Why leave a body near a car that was purposely abandoned in an anonymous location?

We have no proof of anything. Yes, someone he knew.

Yesterday's drop-in visitor had a theory, which is the basic crime theory we've mulled for months (except DIV added times, and opined that the body was dropped between Vegas and St George). That would indicate a perp heading back to St George.....and IMO, being from that area.

That person began relating their "theory" and wound up stating everything as fact. Almost as if they had been there. I don't put much stock into their ramblings. Although the basic theory was not lost on me....

I've said for a long time that the searches should be around SK's home in St George. Why leave a body near a car that was purposely abandoned in an anonymous location?

Yes, you have. And it's unlikely that's been done. How we can get it done? No idea.
