I suppose we can assume LE and/or the family are aware of what was said. But if this is the same tip that came in months ago, wouldn't they be putting some serious time in over there if it was credible? I sure would!

According to The Clipper, it was Home Depot in late January.
Best Buy's now being reported as in February.

One or both would be why Rolf went down to LV 13/14 Mar to look at security tapes...but they were fuzzy.

"Steven wouldn't do that." If he's hanging out in parking lots talking to strangers, I think he MIGHT do "that".

BBM - yes - and very near the Whitney Ranch area.

I was out in that area two weeks ago, shopping and such. There are tons of shopping centers and restaurants in the area - in addition to the Best Buy and Home Depot. LOTS of people and LOTS of traffic - all the time.

I'll try to get out there again this w/e. It makes much more sense to me that he would be around there than it does to imagine him out on Craig and MLK - completely the opposite side of the valley.

Someone who's running a bit of a "shopping scam", might travel around town.

(That's the only reason I can think of a person, basically without money, hanging out in big-box store parking lots.)

Why would a stranger talk to three other strangers?

To sell drugs?
To panhandle?
To pick up some day labor?
To sell...uh....shoplifted items?

They "observed him" in the store, sounds like they were somehow suspicious.

(I'm speaking of "a stranger", not Steven specifically.)

Could be - but I think people would be hesitant to come forward under most of these circumstances.

My husband is one of those people everyone talks to. Doesn't matter where he is or what he's doing, people want to chat with him. I've seen him get nearly an entire life story from a total stranger in under 5 minutes more than once - without asking a single question!

He's ultra-approachable, I guess. I can see Steven being viewed that way. Non-threatening and friendly. Unless he looks like the picture ms_writer made for us today. Scary!

Steven wouldn't do that!

This has me thinking tho.....I'm not sure about the Home Depot in question, but the one near my house has day-laborers hanging out ALL day, EVERY day. Might be a good idea to show his flier to the fellas who hang out at that Home Depot.

I think they'd be more likely to come forward, because the person not only talked to him in the parking lot for awhile, but they "observed" him in the store. That's a pretty credible tip, IMO. Something about the person made them notice him.

THAT'S what I call scary ;)

Ted Bundy looked perfectly normal, and people trusted him....he was non-threatening and friendly. No scary beard ;)

They ALL have day laborers (well, I'll bet they're gone now, with your new law).

If it were just a Home Depot, I'd think day labor only; but the Best Buy is something else. Unless the person was trying to help carry large TVs to peoples' cars...for a bit of cash.

If any of those are close, "he wouldn't do that".

He also wasn't the person at IHOP, because that person drank tea.

Yes - it's kinda creepy, if you ask me. But it would be helpful to know what was so noticeable about this person believed to be Steven. Did he approach them in the parking lot? Was he behaving strangely? Or did they just strike up a friendly conversation?

THAT'S what I call scary ;)

It's bizarre! He never initiates these conversations and doesn't even make eye contact most of the time! I've never seen anything like it...

You're right. And there is that creeper running around in the northwest right now preying on young women and posing as a cop. He DOES have a bushy beard, but still has a very friendly face. ~~~shivers~~~

That's not our law! No, they're still there. In fact, since AZ passed their new law, there are probably more than ever in Vegas!

Ooops!!! Sorry! (I was thinking of a hot place, and got your place mixed up with The Other Hot Place.) ;)

If SK has been hanging out in the parking lots near Best Buy & Home Depot I find it hard to believe that the Henderson Police haven't spoken to him. Unless, SK moved on to Las Vegas area.

I'm so pleased to hear that the family is still active in searching for SK. Every avenue needs to be checked. Not every street, but you all get it.

The two blood plasma centers I was thinking of are:

Binary Plasma Assoc (Biomat USA)
611 Las Vegas Blvd North

United Blood Services
3935 E. Charleston Blvd

hmmm If another homeless person told SK about the services, and that he could gain some money....wouldn't the homeless community be too worldly for SK?

SK is human, therefor I'm not ruling out anything.

If SK is found this weekend I do hope that someone will give us a heads up. Details aren't needed, but just that "he's been found."

It's normal to wonder if the family learned something that may have caused them to not want the public's help.

Does anyone know if the PI is still on this case?

I hope so, too, Sin City. I really do.

By law, they have to take him off the missing persons sites. So even if we don't hear anything first-hand, we will know.

I can understand a homeless, jobless person hanging around parking lots, but they observed him inside. Was he just sitting in the foyer or strolling around the isles to get out of the weather, or was he applying for a job, making purchases, or working?

Fliers of him need to be shown to outside security workers at all the big box stores in the area....if they have them...I would think so in a city the size of LV. Panhandlers can cause your customer base to drop tremendously if not kept in check. IE: I finally quit shopping at one Smith's because I had someone come up and knock on my window after I had entered my car and was about to leave. I since have returned because they now have men drive around in a little cart through out the shopping center.

One Las Vegas resident has come forward, indicating that he and two others met someone who looked like Steven at a Las Vegas Best Buy store in February. They talked with him at several points in the parking lot and observed him inside the store.

That is quite the coincidence. Talking to him in the parking lot. Wonder what they talked about?

Of course, we have no idea how legit this is, but this is the one comment in reply to the above article:

NUTS! You offer a $10,000 reward, and now you have several sightings of this guy. Did they bring the big check with them? I think he looks like my landscaper!

No one who doesn't lead directly to Steven is going to get the reward! What good does it do to provide a "tip" waaaaaaaaaaaaay after the fact?

This report in the Salt Lake Tribune basically says "NOTHING FOUND YET", and recaps yesterday's report.

  • #299
gsmith - I see you! Were you riding the buses today?

If it's a good tip and legit...I hope they called somebody on it.

He could be doing almost anything to just make a dime. Landscaping, construction, prop building, dishwasher, waiter, even passing out flyers in LV if he has changed his appearance. Love to see a pic of him in long hair and also bald (yuk) He loved water sports, so how many jobs in that area would be available?
