I have followed Steven's threads since the beginning. So many of you have worked so hard. It's disappointing not to have any new information, as well as to see his thread disappear from page 1.
So here's a bump for Steven. Where in the world are you?

I'm starting to wonder this:

IF he's out there, would it be better for everything to "go quiet"?
It might save the embarrassment of surfacing in the glare of speculation.

After a year, and uncovering quite a bit of stuff....I just don't think we've found THE clue. We haven't really had any new information for a long time, at least anything we can work with.

Bumping for Steven because it was striking to hear about the stripper missing in Las Vegas a year to the day since he went missing.

Different person, profession, rumors of domestic violence...many dissimilarities.

The similarities are odd, with the car carefully parked. If you're going to abduct the person, why not torch the car? The fact that it wasn't driven far out of town suggests a single perp to me in the new case.

The fact that Steven's car was left how and where it was suggests to me either a bad accident - getting disoriented in heat and falling somewhere, etc. - or an amateurish perp who was able to cover up the body but didn't know where the car was or didn't take the chance to go move it.

In Steven's case, I too think he planned to return to the car and am haunted by conversations I have overheard about Mormon guys being drawn into the "entertainment" world of LV, only to find that the supposedly legit auditions were for , straight or gay. Did he try to leave a situation, and was there an altercation, a version of the domestic violence situation the young woman is said to have suffered (a fight, the cell phone snatched, etc.)?

Are you saying SK was dejected or rejected?

Is it possible he went somewhere where a passport is not necessary?
If he established residency in one of these locations, would he be able to get a passport from there...after a year?

I still think it's possible he could have traveled by Greyhound bus. He could have purchased a ticket with cash or he could have purchased one of those prepaid credit cards. No trail either as with the trac phones.

Well, yeah. I was thinking more like Colorado City, AZ or Hildale, UT - but without the "F" in the LDS. Xanadu works too. Not sure about Xanadu, but I'm pretty sure one would need a passport to travel to Timbuktu.

I have wondered about this too. But there doesn't seem to be anything that fits the bill.

You know Fairy - this is interesting. There is a book about the "lost boys" of the FLDS religion. I have never read it, but I do believe there is a lot of stuff on line about it.

Do you think it is possible Steven went to help the lost boys? I mean, if he was feeling a little depressed and wanted to get out of his current situation, would he have gone to help the boys, given that he apparently was strong in his faith? Maybe to help keep the boys in the LDS, but not the FLDS?

Just a thought..... kinda rambling here. I just thought it was an interesting idea.

We don't know how much he had. He hadn't paid the rent for 3 months and could have been stashing that away...as well as the car payment. I don't recall any reports of him being in arrears regarding the car. SK was use to fasting, so if he put his mind to it, I could see only buying peanut butter and bread or the basic necessities to get by. Plus, if anyone else knew of his plans, they may have helped him.

I think SK walked away and I think the last few people who were in contact with him or saw him know also. JMO

If I'm reading this correctly, you only need verification with a check. I tried calling last night, but was too late. There is/was a terminal or GH bus "location" on Water St. I believe. That number is now disconnected.

I would be surprised for sure in this post 9-11 world. I would think all terrorists would travel by bus to avoid the watch lists. I went on the Greyhound website to simulate purchasing a ticket online from LV to TX where I believe SK has friends...(I am sure I have a post on here somewhere)

IIRC you have to present a valid photo ID in order to get the ticket-otherwise how would LE have known whether or not he took a bus out of town when they checked the bus terminals?
