Me too. Hoping for a swift turnaround.

Any idea how long a swift turnaround in Vegas is? I guess dentals are out if a skull wasn't found. I'm assuming a skull wasn't found if they couldn't determine if it was human at first.

Count me with the stomachs doing flip flops...

So what's the thinking? Steven meets up with someone 9-10ish on the 13th, and after that someone dumps his car in SCA at noon, then takes the phone to Whitney area where they check voicemails to see if anyone is missing Stephen yet?

If I'm completely confused only throw soft things at me. lol.

In that scenario, it's not Steven walking away from the car. (My pet theory, which explains away why Steven would know to park in that one-of-a-kind cul-de-sac in SCA.)

But, he could have met someone in that Starr area, followed them to SCA, been pointed to park "down the street and walk here"......

I dunno. We've been through "finds" before, but this one's close. Even someone who doesn't know SK's name, commented on the 8newsnow news forum that it could be "the Mormon kid".

Ah well, I have had some dealings with one of the investigators in the ME's office and he is awesome. But I think fasteddy4 recently submitted a possible match and he hasn't heard anything. It's been a while.

By now, the skeleton would have degraded, scattered, and a skull could have been broken apart. All they need are a few teeth; they have SK's dentals.
(I have SK's dentals, sent to me by a well-meaning detective in another state!) It's kinda strange having someone's dentals, you know. :(

These COULD BE female remains.

OK...in looking at our "similar cases" (CLICK HERE), I see few missing men from that southern Vegas area:
13 Dec 09 -- Steven Koecher
8 Dec 09 -- Dragan Rnic
23 Oct 08 -- Richard Edward Goodwin Jr from SCA area
6 May 07 -- Trevor Paul Morse (a bit north of this location)

Rnic links to an EL resident
Goodwin lived very near to the alternate address of that same EL resident

How odd and creepy is that? The EL connections not the dentals. lol.

The EL connections were apparently the basis of the April search.

Why? Why that specific area?

I was there and I asked, but no one would say. I did ask one of Steven's uncles - after being there for what seemed like hours - are we looking for a Steven who put himself here or a Steven who was put here by someone else? 'Cause that would change the way of looking...KWIM? He said someone put him there.

:(

Why that area?
Because there's some sort of citation involving two people who previously did something in that area.

Must be very few bones. They should be able to tell whether male or female and how tall and build. No skull? Shallow grave that the wind has finally uncovered?

I don't think it's SK.

Police are waiting for a COD before proceeding with an investigation? Unless there is obvious trauma, COD may not be possible.

Hmmm....I've been thinking about this.

If this was merely broken and scattered bones, would they be talking about determining the COD? No.

We've had no reports of a search for more remains, so I'm thinking these remains were contained in an area. Maybe in the kind of shelter (crevice, under brush/vegetation, wrapped/clothed) we've been talking about: evidence that the person tried to keep warm.

Only if that person had been robbed, would there be no ID. And who would take a robbery victim, to a hiking trail on Sloan Peak (near the towers).

Complete silence. It's deafening. I think LE may just know who this is, and is investigating for a purpose.

I agree. In addition to Steven and Rnic, there is Jessie Foster too.

I think you're probably right -- and I don't even know whether we need to assume there's no ID. They haven't said anything about trying to figure out who it is, or any of the usual things they say.

That's a good point, carbuff. Maybe they do know - or at least have a very good idea.

You guys are good!
I've been out all day, and just started searching the news.

There's also been human remains found near Placeritas Canyon (on the norther outskirts of Los Angeles, near Santa Clarita). If anyone's following a case in that area: CLICK HERE. The area is about 250 miles from Vegas.

Fairy1: these remains are across the freeway from where the April search was held.

I've got a feeling on this one. Steven or Dragan Rnic.

Update on the Santa Clarita remains:
