Ya'll - I'm going to take Steven's posters and check out the IHOP and surrounding area. Please wish me luck - mostly because I really want to find Steven today. But also because I hate IHOP! I'm 100% a Denny's girl.

I will check back in later...

Good luck to you!
:woohoo:

Naegle stated that Steven was a " little down " before he disappeared, and his mom confirmed that too. But, the important thing is that they felt that it was because of being unemployed in a lousy economy. Might not be the same thing as the kind of depression that just comes out of nowhere ; the kind that causes real problems for people ?

Well....he'd just passed a milestone:
his 30th birthday was just a few weeks before. He'd moved to St George after he left the Trib in 2008....had a couple of other jobs, and now, he found himself doing menial labor and was behind on his bills.

I dunno. It's reported he got a bit "sharp" with his mother when they discussed his finances, and she sent him money. His grandmother gave him a check, and he didn't cash it.

It'd be interesting to find out WHEN he got the check from his grandmother. If it sat uncashed, while he faced eviction, that's troubling.

Darn! I guess she's already gone.

I was going to suggest that she find out WHEN Mr Regular usually came in to IHOP, so she could be there at the right time.

The four glasses of iced tea.
Is IHOP really charging this guy for four glasses of iced tea, when he could buy one, and get unlimited refills?

(Y'all know that restaurants with low food prices make their profits off high-priced beverages...right? It costs about two pennies to make a glass of iced tea and they charge about $2 for it.)

I'm still here - waiting for my son. Who, BTW, is NOT one bit happy about our little outing today.

I had thought about trying to hit it the right time of day, but I'm going to look around the whole area - not just IHOP.

I'm still trying to find out if any searches are planned here this weekend for Steven. I can't find anything on his FB. Does anyone know?

If this guy is coming in to IHOP every day, I think I'd concentrate on that, or you might miss him.

Good luck! Be careful.

I'm inclined to agree, but I don't know how to contact Naegle just now and I don't have all day!

I'm off.

My only concern about going to the IHOP is that if it is Steven and he gets startled by being discovered that he might not come back there. Of course we cannot predict his reaction (if it's him) but on balance it is probably best to try to make contact.

Don't startle him ;)

If it EVEN resembles Steven, just quietly call 911 when he first comes in.

If he's coming in to drink "four glasses of iced tea", he'll be there awhile.

She just posted on Facebook a minute or two ago.

Do we know if Steven even likes Iced Tea?

  • #275
Its kind of unlikely as Mormons dont drink tea, iced or otherwise.

They don't? Come on.

Tell me they don't drink Mountain Dew or Diet Coke, either.
Or that the Majority Leader of the Utah State Senate didn't get picked up for a DUI yesterday.

If this IS Steven, and someone's going to judge him because he ordered iced tea, it's understandable why he disappeared.

Ah Naegle,
You wrote that ONE piece of information is being withheld. You wrote :Yes, it's important,Yes it would generate more ideas. When asked if you could answer our questions you wrote : Yes, besides the ONE I am doing my best to ignore. "
So, is the ONE question from someone here the same ONE that is being deliberately withheld ? Can you please tell me that ? Yep
I have gone back through these threads, and I * think * I know what the piece of information might be .... If I'm correct it really does change everything, and also makes me somewhat less optimistic.
In the interview with Steven's dad, he stated that LE in both St.George and Vegas did not take this seriously at first. Then they did. I would think they took it seriously AFTER they got the missing piece of information. Correct ?No, they took it seriously because they checked Steven's background and realized he wasn't a pothead who wandered off on a bad trip

Laytonian...you may want to read the following. I'm sure some LDS members strictly adhere to this and I'm sure some don't. Guess it just depends on how devout one is?

Steven, my Grandmother and I were in Ceadar City for the fall session of the Shakspearean Fest. That was September or October.

Annemarie says on her Facebook page that she is trying to figure out what to do with the rest of her life. Maybe that sparked something. But it also says she works in SLC I believe...so not sure why he would stop at the Ranch.[/quote]

Not sure if someone has already *snipped* this or not but here goes... I too am a little ADD (as another ws has addressed) Okay so not knowing if someone is home and just heading out for a visit may not be illiogical to someone like me or maybe even Steven - I drove out to CA 5 hours one day just to hang out with my guy friend & his fam for a couple days totally last min. That's why I say it my not be illiogical to him or someone that may have add - just thinking out loud. oh also road trips were not uncommon when I myself was trying to figure out things when it seemed life was getting tough - helps me sort through my thoughts - not sure if he is this way also but it could help make sense of all the traveling - What do you think Naegle?
