I found on a Facebook group that Steven is a huge fan of Guster.

His Mom said "He was a good young man with a fondness for drawing, playing the guitar and singing. He was devout to his church and liked water sports, always taking advantage of an opportunity to go boating."

His cousin KC said "He likes board games, hiking and family reunions."

Thanks HOLLY!!! I am still trying to get a sense of Steven-what I mean is who he is as a man. Second son, tried to work as a journalist like dad, struggling financially and personally. Was he shy, was he overlooked....you know what I mean? Sometimes going missing can be a way of striking out on your own, fwiw.

I know family dynamics can be complicated. That is a big shoe to fill in anyone's life I would think---to take the same profession as your parent. Maybe expectations were not met somewhere.

I know I read somewhere in the beginning he absolutely loved music, but had decided that was not the way he wanted his life to go and he had to back away from it. He had a natural love there and was trying to convince himself I think. It was said he wanted a job and a wife (per Naegle). A job in the music business is not really compatible with a wife/family unless the wife is pretty independent. I would think especially so being how Mormons are family focused and the man is to be the leader/head of family. Wouldn't be much time for church as gigs are mostly over the week-ends. Even in families that do not attend church regularly, the hubby wouldn't be around on week-ends for the interaction with the children---especially when they get older. Fine line and a lot of balancing needed.

How do you feel about him moving to LV ? I thought of it for work at one point, but my adopted Bro went there and said forget it. Still it is a big town with money ? Strong church and business?

My logical self says no -- but I've been trying to make logic out of this entire illogical situation.
He may have thought there were more jobs in a larger town. There are, but there's more competition for jobs.

The company his Dad works for, has a little magazine in St George, called "Today in Dixie", and it has a web presence. You'd think his ties in the company and his education would have been a good fit at "Today in Dixie" magazine.

STRANGER STILL: I just searched http://www.todayindixie.com, and see NO mention of Steven Koecher or his disappearance.

I dont see where we know enough about him to rule this out, JMO.

I am going to look again at bodies of water or construction or drain pipes even that might have been within walking distance of the place where he left his car...the statement about him being a water lover resonated with me....

Hey Everyone! I haven't been on here in a while, but decided to sign on tonight and see how everything was going. I use to work for a bank and opened new accounts, etc. Anytime we opened up a business account we had to go to the secretary of state website and verify the business was active and in good standing prior to opening it. I went to the Nevada SOS and type in the name above and found a business registered in his name. It is free to do this type of thing. I copied and pasted the link below:

So if the parents got the key from his room...does that mean they went to his place first? Humm, I guess there wasn't really an answer for this so I should not spend time thinking over everyone's actions.

That's just it, I think he had a dream for his love of music and he fought against it. Steven was an intelligent young man, you can tell by his articles. Just imagine what he could accomplish with the love of something he wanted to do. JMO

I agree that all people love some type of music, but I do believe there are some people when they listen or perform there is an overpowerfulness that touchs every cell of their being.

I've been unable to FIRMLY link that Ivins family with windows, blind cleaning and audio...even though there's some logic in it. I can link them with concrete and storage.

Have been watching those two videos again. And I'm not sure how much this can really help finding Steven but I think we are making an error about those cameras. There is no doubt that they have fish eye lenses, as evidenced by the curvature of the wall on the left side of the screen on Cam 3. But I don't think that explains Steven's car slowing down as if it is some optical illusion.

On that same wall you will notice that at the end of the wall which is lit up in the top left corner of the picture it is perfectly straight up and down. Also, the black porch railing that extends out from the wall. It is definitely curved on the far left side but as it extends toward the street it gets straighter. And that is because it is getting further from the camera. In fact, just about everything on that camera looks kind of normal except the things that are really close. . .the near left side wall, the left side part of the railing, and the post holding up the roof in the middle of the screen but even it is a lot less bowed than the left side wall.

In addition, if the car slowing down is an optical illusion. . .it seems to slowdown by at least half speed. Then why is that when Steven walks back through the frame he doesn't also slowdown to halfspeed when he is near the top left hand corner of the image almost in the exact spot where his car slows down just moments before?

Also, on Cam 7, which also seems to be a fish eye lens although it is harder to tell, his car once again seems to slow down when it is just leaving the frame. Is this an optical illusion as well? Because when Steven walks through the frame a moment later he seems to be at a steady pace even though he is closer to the camera, which should make his image and movement even more distorted?

I think his walking **does** appear to significantly slow down, the further away he walks from the lens (CAM3).

Look at how long it takes him to appear again, when the tree comes between him and the lens.

Didn't you describe a slight cement dip in the road, near where the car seems to slow down? That I can understand.

But...the giveaway is that the car appears to significantly speed up, the closer it gets to the lens. If he was really driving that fast, he'd have run off the end of the cul de sac.

(Not arguing -- but I grew up with this stuff. My father was a professional photographer who also worked for one of the Department of Defense's largest military bases, as a technical expert on RF-4 reconnaissance cameras and later on ground-based security camera systems around sensitive military areas. Still, to this day, at age 90, he "talks shop" zzzzzzzzzz.)

The DI is the LDS version of the Salvation Army, serving as part of the church's welfare system. Members can get free items there, if they are in need. Sometimes, a Bishop's recommendation is required and at other times, I've seen people get a coat or a hat for free.

Not only is each sighting at/near an IHOP, but: each sighting is near one of those Deseret Industries.
The IHOP sighting is less than 1/2 mile from the Flamingo Road DI.
The Craig & MLK bus sighting is 1.6 miles from the Craig Rd DI.

They are. The "empty time" between the time the car is seen, and when the walking man appears, has been deleted. You can tell by the elapsed time clock at the top of each video.

I wish two hours of each, unedited, could be posted (an hour before, an hour after).
