Laytonian,
Yes, I have contacted the group at the church ; waiting to hear from them. Steven was an Eagle Scout, might have managed better than most in rough terrain/ desert

"Be Prepared".
Never hike alone. Always tell others where you are going. Take a coat with you, wear hiking shoes. Make sure you have a fully-charged cellphone. Take a GPS locator with you. Make sure you have adequate food and water in your backpack.

Unless that "portfolio" contained one of those mylar-aluminum reflective insulated tents....I'm afraid he left Scouting behind with the rest of his life.

So many volunteers turned up to help on Saturday that more than 700 were turned away. Chelsea’s mother was overwhelmed with the support.

I was reading this on another thread. Missing males just do not seem to get the attention. Perhaps some do, but to me it just seems they don't. I wonder if tips will come in now that the presser has been held.

Pretty young blonde girls, pregnant women or young mothers get the most attention.

But it'll be hard to convince me that a large turnout of volunteer searchers has ever cracked a case. (Then again, I believe "profiling" is useless woo-woo.)

In Jan 2007, Steven wrote an article for The Clipper about "seasonal affective disorder" and in reading it, it seems very personal. He recommends a specific book, talks about a light box and interviews an inpatient psychiatrist at LDS Hospital. The photo accompanying the article is of a very pretty girl.
http://www.clippertoday.com/view/full_story/143503/article-How-to-Fight-Off-The-Winter-Blues?
Q: Important: Did Steven base this article on his specific experiences, which are common and understandable?
A: We talked to the editor and he doesn’t know except that it is a stock photo.

Q: Is it at all possible that Steven received treatment for this, or another, short-term anxiety disorder - at any time?
A: Sure, but none we're aware of.

Q: Do you know if he took that picture himself (ie, does he know that girl)? Might not hurt to talk to her?
A: It was a stock photo

Q: Any indications that Steven was recruited into a "network marketing" (MLM) business, or buying products from them?
A: There were no products like this in his apartment.

Q: Any indications that Steven was taking "natural" or "herbal" products to boost energy, promote weight loss, or even help him stay away? Lots of empty Mountain Dew (high in caffeine), Red Bull, etc, cans/bottles in the apartment or car?
A: He had mentioned that he didn’t like the way caffeine affected him so he was drinking caffeine-free stuff.

Q: An LDS websleuther asks: Since Steven attended Temple in the midst of driving back and forth from St George, any indications that Steven planned to visit other LDS temples, while travelling?
A: He was very regular about his temple attendance but he always went to the nearest temple.

Q: Was his temple clothing found at his apartment...or in the car?
A: He usually rented temple clothing.

I have nothing useful to share today, but I wanted to bring a post over from another thread that may boost everyone's empowerment levels regarding all the hard work you all do on WS.

Blink, Just wanted you to know that LE confirmed today that they find these posting very helpful. We appreciate all the continued interest and work all of you are doing to help find Morgan’s murderer.

Thank you Dr. H, I appreciate you reinforcing that to the readers and contributors here.

Reading this gave me a boost to continue thinking, and sharing any and every thought that may come into my little brain regarding Steven's disappearance.

That's great to have a father share such an acknowledgement! It certainly is a motivator.

I'm just about brained-out here. After going through the frustration of learning in mid-February that Steven had attended temple ceremonies on Dec 9th with a group of people....well...darn it. That might have refreshed some other memories, if it had been part of the original publicity.

I wish there were more locals from SCA and St. George posting on this thread. It sure would be nice to hear of any 'talk' or 'rumors' running about. Sometimes there is a little sliver of truth involved with rumors. Somebody knows something.

Another topic, but I wanted to share it with you all. About 7 yrs ago, here in LV, I met a guy for lunch that I had met in an online chat room. During that lunch we discussed if we had ever met any others online. He shared an experience with me. He had been talking with a woman online, as he had with me, and decided to meet this woman in person. The woman invited him to her home in an affluent part of Henderson. When he rang the doorbell, he heard her say, "Come on in." When he entered her living room he was beyond shocked that this woman was indeed not a woman at all, but a man dressed as a woman. He/she engaged him in a psych / philosophical conversation regarding the situation he found himself in. As if he/she were trying to convince him of something.

Who knows what this he/she was up to? And, the man whom I met was lucky in my eyes. Hearing this story sure opened my eyes to the hinky people in online chat-rooms.

The main reason why I shared this post with you is because we do not know if Steven was in an online chat-room on the St. George Library computers. We do not know if he was using chat-rooms in an attempt to meet someone.

We do not know if Steven was registered with any singles online meeting web-sites.

You're absolutely right; we don't know. We learned yesterday that a subpeona to determine the books and movies he checked out was served on the library, but nothing on his computer usage. I wonder if LE can get that info as well?

your right we do not know, apparently everything comes up, as normal on his cell and comp. FastEddy might be right that it was something planned on the Saturday night,,so therefore nothing shows up on his cell,as it was arranged in person, or someone else that he knows arranged it. So that would make the call on his cell not seem suspicious .

I don't know that much about computers, but I believe it was Laytonian that mentioned that after 2 mo the history of Steven's computer usage at the library would have been 'over-ride'. I get that, but don't fully understand it. I don't know how many other users would have had to come after Steven in using the same computer in order for the history to be over-ride. I'm not sure of the correct terms, but I believe you all get my thoughts.

hee hee, I'm talking to myself. Not always a sign of mental health issues. lol
In my previous posts I'm not asking anyone to educate me on computer hard-drives. I was just saying.

Plus, in order for LE to get a supeona to do forensics on the library computers wouldn't LE need evidence of foul play in Steven's disappearance.

Has LE stated if there has been any evidence of foul play found recently? It's not real clear as to what LE believes may have happened based on the facts.

okay, so I don't spell very well either. i.e. subpeona

Exactly, we heard nothing about reviewing the computers at the library. Maybe we'll hear more in the next few days.

To-night I called a friend. With in about a minute she said " I'm in Toronto " The first thing I said was " What are you doing there ". I thought about this case afterwards and I still find it hard to believe no one that talked to Steven , on that Sunday, asked him what he was doing in Vegas.

Oh Ruby, I am so with you! Same train of thought. Especially when you are friends, that you worked close together, that you did not say earlier that you would not be ther Sunday......

The cases of Walter Koenig's son and Marie Osmond's son are certainly tragic. But I really do not believe that Steven killed himself. In each of those cases, as well as many, many others, the victims had long histories of mental illness, prior suicide attempts, and were on some kind of depression medicine. Granted, there have been cases where people have just killed themselves without seemingly any provocation or reason. But, usually these people have a lot more things going on in their life than Steven did.

I also seem to think that when people disappear their family is usually quick to point out that the person had been suffering from depression, needs his medication, has a history of mental episodes, etc. But with Steven, there has been down of that. Sure, he was a little down on his luck. But, he drove the whole way here to commit suicide? He was in St. George. . .it's easier to walk out into the middle of nowhere there than it is here. Right?

To me, this has never had the feelings or facts of a suicide. Steven was down on his luck but had some paths of it. He had support in the church, even though his family might have been a bit disappointed in him. He had no history of depression or being manic. There was no note of why he might have disappeared and killed himself, and from what we know he seems like the kind of guy that would have left an explanation had he desired to kill himself and did it.

And above all that, he decides he's going to commit suicide but he takes his wallet and phone with him? That just doesn't seem right either.

Not sure what websites might be restricted at the St. George Public Library and we don't know what chatrooms Steven was in during the days, weeks and months preceding his disappearance. We have been told nothing explained his being in Vegas that day, but frankly if they are looking to find a document entitled "My Vegas Agenda", they can forget about that.

bolded by me (BBM)

That is not exactly true. We don't know what the search of the hard drive revealed. They only said it did not explain why he was in Vegas that day.
