Well Web...we're on the same wavelength...

And I think the same thing...except that I think this person he met up with wasn't a good guy...

I think we're agreeing: there's no logical reason for Steven to have even been in Vegas, Henderson, or SCA.

But his car was found there. Mystery person hiding their own tracks, after some conflict?

There's value in re-jammin' the same thoughts over and over ;)

We are agreeing. And re-jammin' the same thoughts over and over and over again is how we roll here!

The reason I brought up the KMart video is because I recalled a rather curt response about it when it first came up - which had nothing to do with how much time had passed. Here it is:

Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - NV-Steven T Koecher Missing Dec 13 Henderson, #2

And with regard to the mystery person covering their tracks, if it were someone who lured Steven here, as some believe, they would have done it beforehand.

I do not think he is gay. I think he liked girls. I have talked to a friend of his, he said, it was something he had never heard anyone say.

Do the police get on here and read this? I sure hope so! Maybe it will give them some ideas, and some people they might want to question a little more extensively. its easy to just say he took off, and if they do not know where to turn. But whats makes them think that he took off?

If Steven has left...walked away voluntarily....has he left LDS, his family and friends, and all of his possessions?

Why would he do that? Within a week he is known to be missing - regardless of whether he took all of his things or not.

If you want to go missing, you can go with everything you own or with nothing....it does not matter. This is the reason, in my head, that makes me think he did not voluntarily leave.

I did tell the detectives at the PC about WS and invited them to check it out. LE does follow a lot of cases on WS, but I don't know if this is one of them. :(

Still, I would HOPE that, by this time, they would know more than we do to determine whether he took off or has come to harm.

But would they say it, or even recognize it?

I believe there's a good chance that every young singles ward has 2-3 closeted gay people in it. I don't know if one of them was Steven or not, but within a church setting, no one's going to talk.

Do we know if he even had ONE friend outside the church circle? If he did, that may be who knows more about him than anyone else.

If you look on Steven's FB page, most of his "friends" were relatives. The majority of people are relatives. My daughter was talking to one of Steven's neighbors last week, and they were talking about boating, and Steven was telling him about all the things his family did together. The neighbor said he sounded home sick. The little gifts he bought with not alot of money for his relatives...

Those gifts, bought only two hours before he was physically seen for the last time, are heartbreaking. It's like the last detail he needed to take care of, before making a decision.

Christmas was two weeks away; there was no rush to buy presents. But he did.

It does not look like he had friends outside the church circle. Thats why I do not think he had a secret life, I just do not think he had alot of friends. But thats okay, some people do not have a big circle of friends.

Yes, I believe there are gay people in every ward that we do not know a bout. Maybe he had someone right there in his ward.

Does anyone think the white SUV had any roll in the case? I know the police questioned them, and it was a realator, but how do we really know if they did not meet Steven? And GW was in VEGAS the same time as Steven? I just keep thinking about GW.

It seems like GW held the missing poster up of Steven and then did nothing else.

you are expecting to find another person on a video of him buying 4 objects for his family?

Maybe someone was holding him at gunpoint forcing him to buy trinkets.

No, but maybe he was with the person that did him harm, or the person he took off with.

Well, it kind of reminds me of JP. We saw him one time and that was it! He never seemed interested looking for his wife. And even though Steven was not related to GW, they were in a church job together. I would think he would organize something in his ward for Steven. That would be nice since Steven was his counselor, ward member, and friend?

If Steven was gay, I don't believe even he really knew it.

And I agree, maybe he did have someone right there in his ward.

I thought about that...but then thought: where's the other person?

Should we be looking for someone who left town about the same time?

But why come back to St George to buy presents then leave again?

I've convinced myself that Steven was locked out of his apartment, when he returned that Saturday night. That gave him nowhere to sleep, no computer, no cellphone charger, no spare clothes. He pulled in and left 20-30 minutes later (per JS). He would have had nothing but what was already in his car.
THAT could explain why the Christmas presents were found inside his car, too: he couldn't take them in.

Couldn't we find out if Steven was locked out? IIRC, the neighbor saw him go in and come out, what, 20 minutes later?

Good point about the Christmas presents.

The Auburn California Journal reports that the most recent three Sacramento river/canal bodies have been ID'd.

The IDs were not previously announced, and are kinda slipped into this story.

The more interesting part is this quote in the story: "Placer Sheriff’s spokeswoman Dena Erwin said missing persons reports are not public record and any details within them cannot be released. "

As if we didn't suspect that already.

I think if Steve had been locked out of his room, the landlady would have told us that. She has posted several times and seemed to like him. Plus, it hadn't been long since her husband had talked to Steve's father - I would think they would wait a while and see if that brought any results.
