NV - Two LEOs & civilian killed in Las Vegas shootings, 8 June 2014

I posted earlier that an article said their guns were legally obtained... that is what I read, but I'm not sure if that was accurate.

Las Vegas law enforcement has not yet determined how Jerad and Amanda Miller acquired the firearms that they used in this weekend's attack that left two police officers, a civilian and the two attackers dead.

But in the weeks leading up to the attack, Jerad Miller posted multiple times on Facebook that he was looking for a gun and asked for help obtaining one.

"That would still be under investigation," Las Vegas Metro Police spokesman Larry Hadfield told TPM Tuesday when asked if authorities had determined how the Millers got ahold of the guns used in the shootings. He said investigators did not have any new information on what specific firearms were used.

Las Vegas police confirm Amanda purchased the revolver in Indiana. "She would have gone through the background check system. She didn't have any felony convictions or domestic violence charges, so forth and so on, or she wouldn't have passed. That doesn't mean she's smart or not insane," said Bob Irwin, owner of The Gun Store Las Vegas.

Police don't know who bought the other two weapons. As recently as May 8, Jerad was reaching out over Facebook for help obtaining a rifle. The same place he spewed his radical views about the oppressive American government and cop-hatred propaganda.

I think this is a fairly significant point since he made money on Fremont Street dressed as Joker. He was working for a guy (as Batman?) who got arrested, according to Amanda's FB page, then went to work for himself as Joker. They were already out of their own apartment and living with a neighbor. Money was tight, reasonable to say it was a lot tighter after a crack-down on the strip. Those "performers" are aggressive, rude and quite often... just gross.

Scheff, who’s running for the District 42 seat in the Nevada statehouse, said he liked the couple, who were about the same age as his own children, but he quickly realized Jerad Miller could not remain at the ranch.

He learned that Jerad Miller was a convicted felon, although he continued to carry guns – including an AR-15 someone had loaned him during a patrol shift – and he received a disturbing text during a visit home to Las Vegas.

“’You need to get back here, it’s going down,’” Scheff said Jerad Miller told him in the message. “’They’ve got drones in the sky, they’ve got guys coming in to attack us.’”

Scheff said he called the Bundy family, who said nothing had changed since he left the ranch, and he found Jerad Miller even more “amped up” when he returned.

“’I’m going over to the (Bureau of Land Management) base camp to get this started,’” he said Jerad Miller told him.

Yeh I agree. Any of us who have seen some of his you tube stuff - he would be quite scary running after you for a tip - so it would not surprise me if he was one of the ones they might have had to curb in

This would also fit in : but he admits he found it strange they would move to another state without jobs or other plans. He suspects his criticism of some police tactics — such as no-knock raids — resonated with the Millers.
“There are lots of great cops, and there are those who are overly aggressive and act outside the bounds of what Americans would normally consider,” said VanDerBeek, adding that police officers who burst into private homes without warning put themselves in danger of getting shot by homeowners.......

Possibly - but his hatred for authority didn't start here. He wasn't arrested (as a street performer) and the crackdown isn't just downtown Vegas but on the Strip as well. It seems to me he was searching for a place to belong and failed. And failed and failed and failed. If you're too radical for the radicals, there's a serious problem....with YOU.

Jerad was pissed he couldn't find a good job or legally purchase a firearm. This was because he was a convicted felon. It was on him, but he chose to blame others and to see them as oppressors. His online videos, IMO, show a sociopathic narcissist.

I'll be very interested to learn how they obtained their weapons. As his wife, Amanda couldn't have legally purchased them as long as they were living together - which they were, long before they came to Vegas. None were registered. Wonder if the folks who sold them those guns are shaking in their boots....

Did y'all watch the Wal-Mart video? Does anyone else think the way Amanda was positioned was odd? On the local news tonight, they said Jerad placed all that stuff around her to protect her - but she's on her back the whole time. Seems a weird position for a shootout, IMO.

I just found out this morning that the man that was killed at Walmart was an online friend of mine. Didn't know him well, but used to play online video games with him.

We know now she was shot by an officer in Walmart. Explains why she can't really get into a better position and why he tried to surround her with merchandise.
