OMG! Detectives! I just noticed you are near THE BEST fish tacos I've ever had!

The gas station at the intersection of 120 and 395 across from Mono Lake.

http://www.whoanelliedeli.com/

You might be two hours away, but you're certainly closer than I am at 2,500 miles away.

Someone earlier commented that the area is remote, and it is and it isn't. Wellington is near the route we took from Yosemite to Tahoe a couple of years ago.

Give me a heart attack! I'm following your posts so close, that this startled me! :floorlaugh: You're coming up with some good ones MM!

Well, the tacos are that good! :D

Here are some pictures of that part of our vacation to give an idea of what the area is like. The first two are at the gas station with the amazing tacos. The last ones are at a memorial on the side of the road for an air tanker crew who perished fighting forest fire there. Firemen from all over the country have left their tee-shirts and patches on the fence. I believe the memorial is closer to Wellington than the taco gas station.

It's very sparsely populated compared to what I'm used to, but the main road is well traveled by locals and tourists or anyone traveling between cities. You don't have to go far off it to be off the beaten path, but it doesn't appear to be difficult to get to Wellington.

I'm talking gourmet level food at a gas station. http://www.whoanelliedeli.com/

I just realized Wellington is just off the route we took from Yosemite to Tahoe a couple of years ago.

I'll go ahead and share this one I was discussing above. His brother probably killed him in Michigan, but I'm going to error on the side of caution because there's a remote chance he ran away and disappeared. If he didn't have this dark strawberry blonde hair, I wouldn't bother.

Date Last Seen: June 15, 1991

Gender: M
Race: White
Hair: Strawberry Blonde
Eyes: Blue
Height: 73
Weight 190
Circumstances: I found the circumstances on this website: http://www.nampn.org/cases/haines_joey_johnathon.html

There was a family argument involving Joey Haines and his brother Ron Haines. Joey Haines walked out of the house, leaving his vehicle behind & his brother Ron followed. This was the last time that Haines Daughter Christina who was 7 saw her Father Joey Haines. It was also reported that Joey Haines and his brother Ron Haines were in a bar and got into an argument. They left the bar and got into Ron's van. Joey jumped out of the van and ran into a wooded area behind a Flat Rock bar. He then disappeared. There have been no telephone calls, no notes,& no contact from Joey Haines to his Family & Friends. The Victims family state that Joey Haines Social Security number hasn't been used since June 1991.

Is this the same one that was posted previously with a link to a webpage from the daughter? His story sounds so familiar and I was thinking I hadn't yet looked in Michigan on the doe site?

Look at the menu! This place is in the middle of nowhere and it's PACKED.

We were tipped off about the tacos by friends we met at Yosemite. They gave us the keys to their house in Tahoe to borrow. He whispered in my husband's ear and told him we had to stop for tacos at the gas station. Now I'm publishing it to the world that this gas station has AMAZING tacos. lol

The second best tacos I've ever had are sold all winter on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere in Vermont. I get tacos there every year when I visit. I guess I am daring.

I searched his name in the thread before posting it. Nothing came up. When I was searching his name in google, I believe I saw he has his own missing person's thread here on WS. That might be why it's familiar to you.

ETA: Here's his websleuth's thread: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?198985-MI-Joey-Haines-26-Monroe-15-June-1991

Here is a very long shot dude. Milan Vucurevich Jr. and two friends went missing in 1984 while sailing off Kauia, Hawaii. No trace of them or their boat was ever found. http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/v/vucurevich_milan.html
Article with more information: http://articles.latimes.com/1985-03-24/news/ga-30522_1_false-hope

He was 37 in 1984, would have been 44 in 1991, so within range. 6'5" is a bit over height. Brown hair that's clearly graying, but hard to tell if it would look red in the sun. Two of them were experienced sailors. But what grabbed me most is the nose.

I realize the circumstances are pretty much impossible, but...

Since it was difficult to find the link to the master document via flipping through pages, I've started using the "search thread" feature before posting a name. It just takes a second. Now, that and all the lists in the world won't prevent me from double posting because I've been known to forget to check. LOL

Johnathan Haines is Joey Johnathan Haines. Believe it or not, Joey is his given first name, not a nickname.

Why not add a tag at the bottom of the page which reads something like, List post #🤬🤬🤬

How do we tag? It sounds like a good idea, but I've never done it before.

Scroll down almost to bottom of page on the right there is a button that says "add/edit tags" click that and you will be allowed to enter up to 20 tags for this thread

Cool. Thanks for sharing. I've never used the tags. When I click on them, they don't take me anywhere specific---just to the whole thread. Are the tags not working correctly or am I doing something incorrectly when I'm trying to use the existing tags to get somewhere?

I don't think they take you anywhere - they just alert you to some topics of discussion on the thread. But the way Bessie suggested using it as a quick reference (ie: post #268) to find the list of names submitted already. As you see below in the "tags" area - it shows up. I will probably have a few of those by the end of this thread as I update the list. I should have noted the LEO posts and the posts with links to the master list when I was reading through all of them again. If I have time maybe later or we can from here on out.

ETA: I did this during the Casey Anthony trial for post numbers of the pseudo-transcripts I typed during trial. That way people could quickly catch up to speed on what was happening in the courtroom.

Update....

The good news is we now have a DNA profile entered into CODIS for our John Doe, which is a huge step in the right direction! Unfortunately, we do not have any "hits" on the profile at this time.

We need your help. Attached is a photograph of a piece of a T-shirt. We believe the T-shirt was originally white. We need your help with identifying the design. Does anyone recognize it? Thank you in advance for your time and efforts!

Concerning the t-shirt on page 2 of this thread: the feathers resemble those of the peregrine falcon in the Big Bend Nat'l Park tee shirts. Wondering if Big Bend or another southwest national/state park had a tee with a peregrine falcon with setting sun behind it back in the early 1990's?

Tee photo from p.2:

(Sorry if this has already been discussed; haven't had time to read all the pages, yet.)

There was an abandoned car traced back to an owner in CO. The tee looks more like a national or state park tee than a team tee shirt, but it's interesting that the "Falcons" are collegiate teams representing the USAFA near Colo Springs. I wondered for an instant if that might be a falcon superimposed on an orange basketball rather than a sun. But, to me the tee shirt in question looks more naturalistic than team logos generally get. So I'm still leaning towards it being a state or national park type tee shirt.
