She was 14. A child herself. Her pregnancy is by default a result of rape, if the 'father' isn't a child himself. I would not ever blame this poor child; I do blame the fact that she felt like she didn't have a safe adult to turn to for help. JMO

I agree. And did she deliver the baby all by herself?? I don't condone throwing a baby out the window OF COURSE, but it's possible to feel concern for the 14yo while also mourning the loss of a baby.

Right. Its not that its not awfully sad about the baby too, but I'm way more concerned for the welfare of this girl than I am about the baby. Mostly because if someone had cared properly for the 14 year old child, what occurred with the unfortunate baby wouldn't have happened in the first place.

True, but the baby could be surrendered/given up for adoption. But, who knows what all this 14-year-old even knew of such things. Is it possible that a 14-year-old didn't even know what adoption was? Maybe. So tragic all around .

Agreed 100%. Did her parents know? Did her teachers know, or even suspect it?

This has always happened; we have alternatives nowadays, like Safe Havens.

Babies were abandoned throughout time, we just didn’t have 24-media reporting every detail to the entire world.

IMO, compassion should be the first response here. Consequences, sure. But, compassion first.

In 2020, genetic genealogy identified the mother of a baby who was found in a bag in a river in 1992. She did 2 years in the local jail, and eventually sentenced to time served. Another story said she hid the pregnancy and discarded the baby because her family was very racist, and she didn't want them to know she had been seeing a black man. IDK if he ever knew she was pregnant.

And she didn't get pregnant by herself. Was the father also a young teen or a grown man? The answer matters A LOT. Who got the 13-14 year old pregnant (and obviously didn't care about the baby)?
