GUILTY NY - 30 injured in Manhattan bombing, 17 Sept 2016 *Ahmad Khan Rahimi arrested*

 • #881
If they werent in that car then where are all these relatives this article talks about? Brothers, Father, etc. That restaurant surely didnt run by itself and surely Ahmed didnt run it by himself.

Media has some work to do. Where is the kitchen lab that built the bombs? Who all knew about the bomb making?

If it was all done in the apartment above the chicken place then surely those that lived there knew what was going on.

So he left prints behind and used the cell to make calls to relatives. Brilliant!

I am SO SO happy he was an incompetent terrorist.

He thought this would be a success like all terrorists do and if they all had exploded into tiny little pieces most likely he thought his fingerprints would be found.

He seem to be the typical type of homegrown Islamic hate filled terrorist. He hated America. He hated gays. For him to be so young when coming here from Afghanistan he had to be around those who also complained and didn't like America or its values. I have never understood why anyone wants to come to America and then turn on Americans and everything we stand for. IMO, he learned this hate from his parents first.

I've seen two different versions of that story. In one bar owner recognized the suspect. In other bar owner called because of the homeless person and police came and recognized the suspect.

I heard that too jjenny. I heard it was a state trooper who spotted him. Either way I am glad he is off the streets now. He would have continued if not stopped.

So he brought a woman and child back with him. Wonder if they are still here?

Maria recalled that Rahami would often go back to Afghanistan to see family, and would stay for weeks, or even months. Right before their daughter was born, Rahami was in Afghanistan and had trouble returning because authorities in Afghanistan confiscated his passport for unknown reasons, Maria said. The last time Maria knows that Rahami visited his homeland was nine years ago. He brought back a wife and another child, she said.

A thought just came to me.

Sometimes this is not good!!

They said the 5 people are released.

But there was dialog on this thread about having weapons illigal.

So does that mean they had legal guns??

Lots of mentions of hatred for homosexuals. A recurring theme.

At this point it sounds like that whole thing was a wacky misunderstanding. I wish someone would find out what happened, but if it really was okay and innocent I guess we'll never know?

I would think this will be prosecuted as a federal crime? Does that sound right?

often railed against American culture.

Intersting it might have been anti american govt focused on AMerican govt - as it relates to govt officials and his parents restaurant.

He targeted a , military parade - on a route that is surrouded by restaurants on the boardwalk. Sound like a stretch I know, but as more comes out the battle with the city was ahuge deal for him and his family

His family was hassled ( would be his view) by govt officials as it relates to his parents business and livlihood.

But the key thing I wondered why he placed the first bomb in what is in fact a thriving commericial area filled with restuarants who are open as late as they want, noisy (!) everything his parent were not allowed to do.

WHy not leave it in a subway, he attacked commerical privatly owned enterprises. WOnder how many restaurants were in close proxmity to where he placed the first one.

Does anyone know if there are a string of reatuarants where the second one was placed? It was off the main path - I wonder if there are restaurants around there .

My guess some internet troll did it. Clearly the suspect isn't gay and in fact from reports he hated gays.

more in-depth version?

Jack Mazza, 55, a mechanic who works at a shop around the corner, said he and a friend named Harinder Bains, were walking past Bains’ bar, called Merdie's Tavern. They spotted a male laying in a fetal position with his face nearly covered by a gray hoodie, initially thinking he was a bum sleeping in a sort of vestibule out front.

When Harry told him to leave, the bearded Rahami said, “go f--- yourself. I’m sleeping.”

"Harry said, 'That's the guy. That's the guy that planted the bomb,'” Mazza said. “I said 'No, it's not — you can't even see his face. How do you know?' Because he had a hoodie on. I bent down and looked at him and said, I don't know. Call the cops if you think it's him."

"A few minutes later the cops showed up and the guy pulled out a gun and started shooting through the glass at them. Then he ran out and took off down Elizabeth Avenue."

Mazza said the police chased Rahami, who fired back at them as he was running.

“I guess he was trying to shoot the cops, but he was hitting passing cars,” he said. “It's a miracle nobody got hurt. He could have hit us. He could have hit anyone.”

Juan Villaface, 32, said the bar owner told Rahami he had to move along.

“He was sleeping,” Villaface said. “We walked by. We said to the owner, the guy's sleeping. He called the cops. He said, the cops are on their way. When the cop came, they knocked on the glass. (Rahami) shot at (the officer) right away. I heard two shots.”

Chris Ricco, 42, also was with Mazza and Villaface when they came across Rahami. "It was definitely the guy who was in the news,” Ricco said. “Harry tried to wake him up. He told him to f--k off. So he called the police.”

Cops ordered Rahami to show his hands and he opened fire at the officer and took off on foot before he was captured.

If it turns out the pullover of the people really are related to the perp then I sure hope LE has not just let these people go just because they said they had no knowledge of him making bombs.

They reportedly had weapons in the vehicle. Why?
And if there were any handguns and if they were in NYC city limits at time of pullover then that is a crime right there because handguns are illegal for most all citizens.

You have to almost be a policeman yourself in order to obtain a legal permit for a handgun in NYC.

If the weapons were long guns then why were they in the vehicle? Most big game seasons dont open yet for another month or so.

Something sounds real "fishy" or should we say "chickeny" about the pullover of the vehicle. :)

Other articles had said the father owned the restaurant and he just worked there. There just has to be more relatives of this perp. He was not running it himself.

Give us a feeling they are "on it"! Obviouly had nothing to do with nothin!! But made a long news cycle!!

Can someone get one of those maps where you can walk around the area. Would love to see what was around the second location?

Several restaurants across the street??

Chelsey is AMerican culture -- gay, dining, shopping, etc

Police still looking for these two...

Cops want to question two men who happened on one of Rahami’s devices — a pressure cooker — in some luggage on W. 27th St. They were captured on video removing the pressure cooker and then walking off with the luggage.

“They look like they were two gentlemen strolling up and down 7th Ave. at the time. We have no information that would link them to this at all,” he said. “Once they picked up the bag they seemed incredulous they had actually picked this up off the street - and they walked off with it.”

Investigators now believe that when the men pulled a plastic bag out of the luggage they may have disengaged the cell phone.

I am getting tired that every time this happens it seems LE is willing to give a free pass to all the people he was staying with who most likely knew of his plans to kill. Just because LE got the main person who did the actual bombing does not mean that others did not harbor this terrorist, knew of his plans, provided a place to build the bombs, may have provided funds to help buy the materials, and on and on.

Everyone who lived in that apartment above the chicken place would have had to have seen things and most likely knew what he was doing. Its not like the place was a huge place. It was rather small place.

So why are we all of a sudden hearing "crickets" about the pullover of the alleged family members who were trying to flee with weapons no less. I believe most all of #2 in this article.
"The New York Times reports that the suspects were mostly from the same family and “may” have been headed to JFK Airport."
I think the media is just hushing it all up now and giving them a pass. Why?

Handguns are illegal in NYC and if they had any of those and were in city limits at time of pullover then that alone would be gun charges. Illegal possession of handguns.
